As I settle into the passenger seat next to Caleb, a whirlwind of thoughts consumes me. Should I reveal what I found out? Caleb's inquisitive gaze lingers on mine, but I offer a tight-lipped smile. With a click of my seatbelt, I push the nagging questions aside for now.

Once we arrive, Caleb follows me in the house and I go upstairs with him so we can watch the newSimspack trailer together. I think he can sense the change in my mood, but he doesn’t bring it up and I decide not to ask about the information I found.

“Thanks for going with me today,” I tell him instead. “I can’t wait for this new pack to come out.”

“Me too,” he says. “It looks fun. I love pirates and treasure hunting and stuff.”

We chat about the new pack, speculating on what things might be coming with it and I try to ignore the lingering questions from my brief research.

If I ask about Emily, I might just upset them and we’ve spent so long getting to this place of calm, I don’t want to bring it crashing down around us.

BASTIAN

Sienna has been quiet since she came home from the library with Caleb. Between that and the nightmares she’s been having since the incident, I worry she’s not doing well. Since it’s a Friday night, I decide that the best thing to do to get her mind off things is take her out for a nice date.

“Hey,” I say, peeking into Caleb’s room. Sienna looks up at me from where she and Caleb are cuddled together, playingThe Sims. “Get dressed. Something nice. Wear one of those outfits we picked out for you.”

“Where are we going?” Sienna asks, shoulders tensing.

“Gonna take you out on a date. Just you and me, Princess. How does that sound?”

Her shoulders relax and the smile she gives me punches me in the gut with its brightness. “It sounds great,” she says, hopping off the bed.

What about me?" Caleb whines, waving his hands around.

"You've got work to do for old man Buford, remember?" I chuckle, tossing a pillow at him.

"Yeah, but what if I want to go out and look pretty?" he counters, flashing a mischievous grin. Sienna laughs and slips past us to get ready.

I head into my room, trying to decide how I want to dress for our date. Picking out a deep tan button-up, I pair it with black jeans, a belt, and black boots. I throw my black moto jacket on top, knowing Sienna likes how I look in it.

I’m really trying here, for her, so I hope she appreciates the effort.

Stepping out of the bedroom, I’m shocked into silence when I see what Sienna has picked out. She’s wearing a deep blue bodycon dress, with thin straps. The material is kind of velvety and it hugs her curves, stopping just above her knees. On her feet are strappy silver sandals with short heels. Her hair is pinned back away from her face and she’s got dark makeup on around her eyes and a thin, gold chain on her neck. Her lips are painted bright red.

“Is this okay?” she asks, tugging on the hem of the dress. “You didn’t say where we were going, so I wasn’t sure.”

“It’s perfect,” I say, pulling her towards me and crushing my lips against hers. “You look damned hot in that, Princess. I’m going to have a hard time keeping my hands off you.”

Sienna blushes as we pull apart and I reach for her hand. “C’mon. Dominic is at the shop tonight and Caleb is doing some work for the old guy who runs the hardware store. It’s just you and me.”

“Where are we going?” Sienna asks, following along as I pull her towards the door. She grabs her purse from the hook as we step outside.

“Going to take you to dinner someplace nice, then we’re going dancing,” I tell her. “You down?”

“I’ve never done anything like that before,” she admits. “I was pretty studious in college.”

“Well good, I get to show you how we have fun around here,” I say, opening the door for her. “You deserve a nice night out.”

She gets in and we take off for Rosewood Grille, one of the nicer restaurants in town. Once we arrive, I step out of the car and walk around to open Sienna’s door for her. She takes my offered hand and we head inside.

The restaurant is high on a hill, overlooking a wooded area. The outside is rustic, with wooden siding and a stone foundation. Inside, it’s dimly lit, with flickering candles on each table.

The large space is dominated by the open kitchen in the center, with the smell of sizzling steaks wafting through the place as the hostess leads us past it, and up a set of stairs.

“What’s the occasion?” Sienna asks as we’re seated. A warm fire crackles in the large metal fireplace nearby and the floor-to-ceiling screened windows give an amazing view of the forest beyond.
