As we head home, my heart pounds in anticipation, every moment stretching out like an eternity. The only thing I want right now is to fall into Sienna’s arms and hold her close until the storm inside me subsides. Being around her soothes my soul and I’ll feel at ease when she’s in my arms.

I bring the car to a halt in the driveway, breath catching in my throat at the familiar sight of home. The three of us get out andfile in the house, no words spoken as our minds churn with the newfound knowledge of our paternal betrayal.

Heading up the stairs, I grip the banister, each step weighing on me as I head to my room, where we’d left her this morning.

“Sienna?” I call out, stepping inside. The bed is empty, sheets rumpled. It’s quiet in here, my voice echoing.

I call her name again, poking my head into Caleb and Dominic’s rooms in turn, but she’s not there either.

Dominic calls her name from the stairs, turning to face Caleb who is in the kitchen grabbing ice for the nasty bruise on his side.

“Is she down there?” he asks.

Caleb looks around, concern etched in his features as he realizes he doesn’t see her. He puts the ice back in the freezer and walks over to the bathroom door, rapping on it with his knuckles. The door creaks as it swings open, revealing an empty bathroom.

“She’s not here,” Caleb says, panic in his voice.

“Where is she then?” I demand, rushing down the stairs. “Where would she even go?”

He whips out his phone and calls Sienna immediately, but the phone goes straight to voicemail.

Dominic moves around, searching the closets and the other bathroom. “Sienna!” he yells.

“I don’t think she’s here,” I say, a grip of terror seizing my heart. “Guys, where would she go?”

Caleb’s voice is hoarse as he speaks, “She was trying to ask me about Rich. She thought that he was hiding something, and I brushed her off. You don’t think she went to confront him, do you?”

My mouth sets in a thin line. “That’s exactly what she would do,” I say, clenching my fists. “Caleb, do you still have the tracker in her phone?”

“Of course I do,” he snaps. He sprints upstairs and grabs his laptop, the noisy clatter of keys filling the room as he begins to search for her. “Shit, her freaking phone is broken or something because the tracker can’t get her signal.”

“What are we going to do?” I ask, gripping my hair with my hands. “If she’s gone to confront Rich, there’s no way he’s going to just let her go. We have to find her, dammit!”

“I have a confession,” Caleb says, twisting his fingers as he looks down at his lap. “I implanted a tracker into Sienna after her kidnapping. I just couldn’t stomach the idea of something going wrong where she doesn’t have her phone.”

“Fuck, you’re a genius, nerd brain!” I say, grabbing him and kissing his forehead. “Find her!”

Caleb immediately gets straight to it, pulling up another site and searching for her.

“She’s …” He stares at the screen, voice fading out.

“Where?” I demand. “Where is she?”

“Emily’s apartment,” he whispers, pointing at the screen with a shaking finger.

“What’s she doing there?” Dominic asks, crowding around the computer to look, brows furrowed in concern.

“I don’t know but I have a bad feeling about it,” I say. My insides feel like ice, and bile rises in my throat. “We have to go,now.”

Dominic and Caleb nod, silent communication passing through, drawing strength from each other, bound by the unshakable bond we share. In unison, we head out to the car and Dominic gets into the driver’s seat this time, putting it into gear even before we’ve gotten our seatbelts on.

Caleb sits in the front seat, using his phone to track Sienna’s location. All his attention is focused on directing Dominic as he races us through the darkened streets.

“Do you think he has her?” Caleb asks as we careen around a corner, the tires screeching on the pavement. Exhaust fumes perfume the air, leaving a cloud of smoke in our wake.

“I don’t know,” I say, my jaw set in a hard line. “If he does, there will be hell to pay for him.”

“Nothing would surprise me at this point,” Dominic admits. “Rich isn’t the person we thought we knew. That man is gone, if he ever existed. All that matters right now is finding Sienna. We can’t let him hurt her.”
