When I walked back into our hotel room, I found Rita looking like a dark angel with her black hair and white plush robe, looking over the flickering lights of the city. I didn’t say anything. I didn’t want to disturb her peace; I just put the flowers on the table and stepped toward her, taking her gently in my arms, and we both stood there, reflecting over the Chicago streets in total silence.

I looked at myself in the mirror and fixed my tie for the last time. All my thoughts were captivated by Rita's face when I gave her the flowers. Her smile would forever be branded in my mind. She was overwhelmed with emotions, almost like no one had ever done a kind gesture for her, but that was probably just my wishful thinking. There was no way a woman so beautiful was not worshiped and lavished with gifts.

Finally, the bathroom door opened - after an hour, I might add - and she was everything a man could wish for and more. The dress wrapped her curvy body like a second skin, making me choke on my own tongue. The shopper had chosen a tight dress, that showed the skin of shoulders and stopped above her knee. The slit on her left thigh and the high heels made her legs look a mile long. My mouth went dry like a summer day in the Sahara.

"I was right, you look delicious in a suit, Mr. Sullivan."

"You look beautiful in everything, but, umm, I have to say that this dress is doing you a lot of favors, dear."

"I'm glad you like how it fits. After all, I'm wearing it only for you." She spoke with a heavy sensuality, and I got into her game. A little flirting never killed anyone.

"You'd better be. I don't like fighting people; usually, I end up stitching their nose back in place."

I stepped closer, and with one finger, I tucked a piece of lace that was showing from her bra, back into the sleeve of the dress. She exhaled and shivered from this small gesture.

No one could tell me we didn’t have chemistry. The sexual tension between us was building with each moment.

"We should go down to catch our reservation."

She looked up at me through her thick lashes and licked her plump lips.

"Or we could skip the dinner all together."

I was paralyzed by the frankness of her words. A woman who knew what she wanted and was not afraid to take it was always sexy. Add a body like Rita had on her and tell me how I could stop my instant erection.

Her desire for me had nothing to do with my lie. She wanted me and this made me feel like a God walking among humans.

I was holding on to the last shred of my conscience with everything in me because I knew that if she was mine, right now we would be going down on the floor. Or I would be going down on her. Or the other way around. Point is, going down would most definitely happen.

"Love, I think you would enjoy the pasta at Fornetto Mio. Let me feed you, and we can talk over a glass of wine."

"Fornetto Mio?"

"It's the name of the restaurant of the hotel."

"Ok, if you insist. Do we come here often?"

"Actually, I only ate here once with my boss when we attended a convention. I have a feeling tonight I'll enjoy it more."

"I'll do my best to top that."

She placed her hand on my arm, and we walked out of the room and to the elevators.

"Is your boss an old, boring man?" Her question surprised and amused me.

"A woman, actually. Why are you curious?"

"I want to know my competition. Is she pretty?"

"Sonia Sadin? Absolutely stunning." With the corner of my eye, I could see a frowning line forming on her forehead and a corner of my mouth shot up. "For someone who's over fifty."

"Oh, I can cope with that."

"You could cope with everything and everyone."

Her smile turned shy, and I was surprised at how complex she could be. All woman but with a sweet shyness to her at the same time. One minute she made me a proposition, the next she blushed when I gave her the simplest of compliments.

"I wish you'd let me compliment you without looking at the floor. You are very beautiful, Rita." She found the courage to stare directly at me.
