“Am I keep you from something? I can go home if…”

“Absolutely not!” She was not going anywhere. “Ok, you three,” I pointed to the triplets, “out.”

Iris’ face fell on the floor.

“You don’t want to spend time with us?” I didn’t think I had refused them before, ever, but now it had to be done.

“Another time, Iris. I’ll take you three out next week, ok?”

“Fine.” But she wasn’t pleased at all.

“Who brought you here? Cristiano is out of town.”

Jasmine just shrugged.

“We took a cab.”

“What? Hugo left you take a fucking cab?”

“He didn’t know we left. He hadn’t seen Mom in a week, they haven’t left the bedroom yet.” Yep, it checked out.

“Stay here, I’ll call one of my men to drive you.” I found my phone and dialed, instructing one of the guards at the gate to take my car and deliver them safely back home. I also texted Hugo to let Cat breathe and keep an eye on their kids. “Ok, munchkins, the driver is waiting for you.”

All three of them were around Ludmila when I came back into the room. Iris was playing with her hair, Rose was holding her hand, and Jasmine was saying something about her eyes. What the hell were they doing to her?

“Girls,” Ludmila said blushing, “you are too nice, thank you.”

“You know, if you come tonight, maybe Enzo will too. We’ve really missed him. He’s like a brother to us.” Damn it, Jasmine!

“He’s exactly like a brother.” Rosalyn too?

“Our brother.” And now Iris.

What the hell were they trying to pull now?

“I…I really can’t come, but I’m sure Enzo will be there without me.”

“Absolutely no fucking way. Ludmila, I said I’d take you out tonight.” I barked from behind them, and all four looked at me. For a moment I was struck by the image of seeing four women that I loved so much, all gathered together. This was exactly where Ludmila should be. “Girls, really, don’t fight me on this one.”

“Ok,” Iris finally said. “I think we should go now. You promise to take us out next week?”

“Yes. We’ll do whatever you want. Monday?”

Rose snapped her fingers. She did that sometimes when she wanted people to listen to her.

“We can’t, we’re going out with our friends on Monday. Oh, and we’re going to the Hamptons Thursday. Can you do Wednesday?”

“Sure. Off you go, now.” I nodded to the door. “And none of you says a word about what you saw today, or you’re going to have a problem with me. You never saw Ludmila, got it?”

They all said yes at the same time. Jasmine lined up her sisters, and they were on their way out, but she stopped and turned to me.

“Enzo, I know how you can make it up to me.”

“Spit it out.”

“Convince dad to let me go out on a date.”

My jaw fell. Convince Hugo to do what? She would have to convince me first.
