“Only for you. Please, Jamie. Now.” Only he could get me to the point of shameless begging. I pushed back, demanding that he give me what I wanted. He pushed into me with a slow, smooth thrust. The delicious sensation of being filled by him made my eyes roll back. He stayed still as he feathered kisses on my neck and shoulder. I angled my head to give him better access.

He thrust again, his movement gentle as he gave me time to adjust. “Is this okay?” he asked, lips pressed to my ear.

The way he handled me with utmost care was almost orgasmic. “It’s perfect. More.”

He moved, pulling out almost fully before plunging back in. I let out a guttural moan and my body trembled with pleasure. As he sped up, I wound an arm around his neck to anchor myself against his rougher movements while I pressed a hand to the cool glass. I gazed out at the spectacular view while Jamie drove me to sheer bliss. Each powerful thrust brought me closer and higher until I shattered into what felt like a million pieces around him.

He erupted with a roar of pleasure and as he shuddered against me, he nuzzled my neck and whispered, “You are a fucking dream come true, Charlotte.”

My heart shimmied. I’d never been called a man’s dream come true. It made me feel special… empowered. I was glad when Jamie scooped me up into his arms because my knees were in danger of giving out from the force of my orgasm and the emotions pulsing through me. I was in love with Jamie after barely spending a week together on an island and within a few days of us officially dating.

Holy shit. I hoped like hell that he didn’t break my heart. He had the power to completely shatter it because I’d never felt so intensely about anyone. I clung to him as he strolled down the steps and dropped onto one of the sofas with me still in his arms. I sat across his lap and snuggled against him. We made quite the pair with me in just my bra and him in his boxers and button-down shirt.

However, we were so comfortable wrapped up in each other that we both began to doze off. I felt so content with Jamie that I almost blurted out that I loved him. Somehow, I held my tongue and then I fell asleep in his arms.

JAMIE

My eyes opened to sunlight filtering in through the spaces between the drapes. The arm I had thrown over Charlotte’s middle tightened slightly because I couldn’t get enough of holding her like this. It felt good waking up beside her. I propped myself on one elbow to look at her. She still slept soundly, her chest rising and falling in a steady rhythm.

The soft glow of the sun illuminated her serene features. Her long lashes created crescents on her flushed cheeks. Her full lips were slightly parted and still showed signs of my hungry kisses last night. Her golden hair fanned out on the navy satin sheets. She was a beautiful sight and as I stared at her with a tenderness that surprised me, I thought that maybe I did love Charlotte.

I had tried to be realistic… denying the notion that I had fallen for her within a few days of meeting her. The affection that hit me in the chest from just watching her sleep told me that maybe tumbling into love this fast wasn’t so fictional after all. When I blew out a breath of mild disbelief, Charlotte stirred and rolled over to face me.

Her eyes fluttered open and as soon as she saw me watching her, she smiled. “Good morning,” she hummed, her voice husky with sleep.

“Morning.” I smoothed a finger over her cheek and pushed strands of her hair out of her face.

“Are you okay?” she asked as she stretched.

“Of course. Why?”

“I opened my eyes to find you watching me with a frown.”

“An expression of wonder,” I corrected.

She chuckled softly. “Well, what were you wondering about?”

“How you burrowed into my heart so fast.”

She blinked, probably stunned by my honesty.

“Maybe I’m taking the whole new attitude on life and finally seeking happiness too far…”

I smiled when she continued staring at me with the typical curious glint in her eyes. That was one of the things I liked about her. She never interrupted but waited patiently to hear what was on my mind. She always showed me that she was genuinely interested in what I felt and what I had to say.

“When you encouraged me to live free and stop feeling guilty about something I had no control over, you probably didn’t mean diving head first into romance.”

Her lips twitched and stretched into a grin. “Hey, I’m having a good time so I’m not complaining. Do you think we’re moving too fast?”

“No.” I rested my head on my palm and held her gaze. We were in the middle of the extra week we had together and I enjoyed every second with her. It felt natural having Charlotte in my space and a part of my life as if we’d been together for ages.

She lifted a hand to stroke my jaw. “What else are you thinking about?”

I reveled in this intimacy between us. We didn’t have to indulge in sex—amazing sex—to feel entirely connected. I felt the bond when we just talked like this.

“When I showed up at your mother’s place and saw you with your nephew in your arms, I… liked how you looked.”
