I frowned. “He has horns?”
“I don’t know. I picture him with horns, don’t you?”
“Not really.”
“Huh.”
Now I was picturing Kane with horns and the image only made him more attractive. I decided to change the subject.
“Ever hear of a demon called a kulshedra?”
“I know they’re a rare, female serpent thingamajig.”
“Very descriptive.”
“And their natural enemy is a drangue.”
“Right. A drangue.” A winged semi-human with supernatural powers destined to fight and defeat the kulshedra. They were born solely for this purpose—basically Buffy the Kulshedra Slayer.
“Why do you ask?”
“There’s a kulshedra in Bone Lake. I’d like to relocate her.”
Gun pulled the car outside the gate to the Castle. “I might be able to assist you with that.”
I noticed Cam leaning against the gate. “Did you tell Cam to meet us here?”
“Of course. She’s dying to see your dress. Since we’re not attending the gala, this is our chance to look upon divine inspiration.”
I couldn’t deprive her of that. I exited the car and carried the dress inside.
“I need to see,” Cam said, hurrying after me. “Gun says it’s incredible, like it was woven by magical spiders.”
I cast a look at Gun over my shoulder. “Magical spiders?”
“It shimmers like a web.”
“I’ll show you when we’re inside,” I told Cam. “I don’t want to get it dirty.”
The mages trailed behind me into the house. I entered the parlor room and unzipped the garment bag.
Cam’s mouth dropped open. “Whoa. That is perfection. I wish I were a little taller so I could wear it after you.”
“She’ll need shoes,” Gun said. “Maybe you can help her with that.”
“Happy to.”
“You said you can help with the kulshedra,” I reminded him.
“Yes. I bet we can find you a drangue.” He regarded Cam. “Do you think there’s one on the international roll?”
Camryn took out her phone. “I’ll give Josie a call and ask her to look.”
“Don’t tell her it’s for me,” I said quickly. “She won’t want to do it.”
“You’re right. She won’t.”
I glared at Gun. “You don’t have to agree with me so readily.”
