“Mostly?’ Her brows pinched and he smiled, deliciously handsome, before he leaned in closer to her ear.

“I do very bad things to you, when I’m fucking you the way you like, and you’re not bad. So yeah, mostly.”

When he pulled back enough for his eyes to meet hers, she swallowed thickly, feeling her skin prickle with awareness while her pussy responded to the memory of those bad things that felt so incredibly good.

“Carter. I’m glad you made it. Introduce me to this lovely lady.” It took a minute for Carter to pull his eyes away from McKenna but he turned to find Kohen standing close by. He had his hands submerged in the pockets of his tuxedo pants, but unlike everyone else, he was void of a mask.

When Kohen’s eyes moved smoothly from McKenna back to Carter, he relented and made introductions.

“McKenna, this is Kohen Corvidae, our host for the evening.”

“It’s a pleasure to meet you, McKenna. My son said that you were stunning.”

Carter glared at Kohen whose smile expanded as he reached for McKenna’s hand and kissed her wrist, not allowing her time to react.

“Oh, thank you.” She blushed and her eyes moved to Carter. It was hard not to enjoy the visual of such a distinguished and handsome man holding her captive with a set of alluring brown eyes and confidence almost as domineering as Carter’s.

Almost.

“Put your mouth on her again and your sons will be hosting the next event here, Kohen.” Carter gently wrapped his fingers around McKenna’s arm and moved it out of Kohen’s reach before he shifted her to his side once again, digging into her hip with a possessive grip.

Kohen smiled smugly before addressing McKenna. “It seems I’ve been warned, but my good friend knows he has nothing to worry about. I’m fully committed to one woman. No others stand a chance, no matter how stunning they are.” He winked and McKenna grinned, cutting a discreet glance at Carter.

“Even if that weren’t the case, you don’t stand a chance, no matter how charming you are, Mr. Corvidae.”

Kohen’s eyes lit with amusement and he nodded. “Call me Kohen, please. Carter is family, which means you are too.”

“Kohen,” she said confidently with a smile. “What’s tonight about?”

“Ezekiel Omari is a good friend of mine, so we’re raising money for Loyd Recreational Youth Art Programs.”

“Oh, interesting. How do I donate?”

“You don’t. He does.” Kohen glanced at Carter then pointed to a wall at the far end of the room. “There are pieces of art created by the children who attend Loyd Avenue Recreation Center. They were kind enough to donate them for our auction. You bid electronically by keying in any amount you deem worthy under Carter’s last name. There are devices stationed at each piece of art.”

“Very thorough, very fancy.”

“I told you he likes to show off,” Carter mumbled, with a glare at Kohen who smirked and shrugged.

“I have it, so why not flaunt it. Make sure you run up a tab because I know for certain, your boyfriend has very deep pockets as well.”

Carter grunted at the demand and McKenna glanced his way. He nodded his approval and her smile expanded.

“How much?”

“Bid whatever you want, I assure you he can cover the tab,” Kohen responded before Carter had a chance, delivering a cocky expression to McKenna before shifting his attention to Carter. “I need to speak to you for a moment, privately.”

When Carter frowned and glanced at McKenna, Kohen added, “She can make rounds with Elena and Emir will be nearby keeping an eye on things. Our guests have been fully vetted. She’s not at risk.” Kohen spoke quietly enough for Carter to hear and even through his reluctance, he agreed.

“I need to step away for a minute.” While Carter addressed McKenna, Kohen waved over his wife who greeted them both when she was at her husband’s side.

“Carter, it’s been awhile.” She smiled softly and Carter turned in her direction, wrapping the elegant woman in a hug before he kissed her cheek.

“It has but you’re beautiful as always.”

“Remember your threat when you’re stepping to my wife, Reed,” Kohen said dryly, knowing Carter was returning the favor from the attention he showered McKenna with only moments before.

“Oh, Kohen, hush. I’m sure you started it.”
