He frowned and his eyes lowered to McKenna. Hers were filled with concern.

“What’s wrong?”

“Nothing, Kenni.” He planted a kiss and her expression settled deeper into concern which Carter ignored and glanced to the front of the room before his eyes were on McKenna again. “Let’s go.”

“Go where?”

“Home.”

The word settled into Carter’s chest like an arrow piercing the center of a bullseye. McKenna was home. His home. She had been since the first night he spent under her roof but it didn’t have shit to do with her place. It was her. Something he couldn’t explain but accepted. Knowing that she now claimed him as hers felt surreal, right.

“We’re leaving?”

“You want to stay?” His eyes lowered to hers and she tucked the corner of her lip between her teeth. “No, we can go, but I want to say goodbye to Elena first. She was…”

“Nice,” Carter finished and McKenna nodded.

“I like her.”

“The feeling is mutual. Come on, we’ll let them know we’re leaving and head out.”

Carter escorted McKenna to Kohen and his wife and they all said their goodbyes. After Elena expressed her appreciation for them coming, she also demanded they visit soon for dinner to which McKenna agreed but Carter remained indifferent. He understood Elena wanted to be an ally for McKenna but Carter wasn’t thrilled about being any more connected to Kohen and his family than he already was.

He might possibly change his mind, but for now, Carter was going to be selfish with McKenna because she was his one constant.

The minute Carter closed the door and locked them inside his apartment, his mouth was on McKenna. He kissed her so intently that she felt her soul filtering over to his. He needed to feel grounded and she was the only one who could give him that.

When the kiss wasn’t enough, his hands roamed until he reached the zipper on the side of her dress. He tugged it down and forcefully yanked the material free from her body but it ripped in the process.

“My dress…” McKenna rushed out on a breathy exhale.

“Fuck that dress.”

“I like this dress…” His mouth was on her neck, her shoulder, then her exposed breast.

“I’ll buy you another.”

“You can’t, it’s one of a kind.”

“Then I’ll pay whoever to fix this one or make you a new one.”

“Carter…”

“Kenni, I need something from you and it doesn’t have a damn thing to do with this dress.” His mouth was on hers again seconds before the dress was ripped further down her side. She gave up caring because there was no salvaging the material.

Carter roughly pushed her away while unfastening his pants and turned McKenna so she was facing the door. He yanked her hips back and her palms slid down the sleek wood until she was slightly bent at the waist.

When he rubbed the head of his dick over her pussy, a wave of longing pulsed down her spine and landed in the pit of her stomach.

“Hurry,” slipped from her lips and Carter smiled.

“You anxious, Kenni?”

“Yes.”

He chuckled and eased halfway inside of her, pulling back and teasing her entrance once more with the head of his dick before he pushed all the way in, loving the way she gripped him tightly. She glanced over her shoulder and rocked back against him. Carter pulled back and slammed into her once more.

“That better?”
