“Nah, it wasn’t because his Dr. Dolittle ass never deserved you. The point is, sir, cry a little because you lost a bad one. He doesn’t need to be out here acting like you didn’t crush his entire soul.”

“I didn’t.”

“You did, ten times squared. He’s fucking with Shaunta.”

“Wow. I’m not surprised. She was all in his face at the auction.” McKenna thought about the woman who was overly nice and too attentive to her then man. She also thought about how the idea of the two of them together made her want to laugh instead of feeling anger or jealousy. She also wasn’t surprised because Shaunta wasn’t far from his type. She was a beautiful pediatric nurse who openly told anyone that would listen how her goal in life was to marry a very rich man, preferably a surgeon because she would have all of his money and very little of his time.

Perfect fit for Tevin.

McKenna didn’t feel anything at all about the union because Carter had already erased Tevin’s existence from her life. There wasn’t a thought in her head for him that went beyond being thankful he was no longer her headache.

“I’m not surprised either, but I’m pissed. They were probably fooling around while the two of you were together and that’s disrespectful, because hoe fuck you.”

Grinning, McKenna lifted her head and sipped champagne. “You don’t like Shaunta and he wasn’t getting it from me, so why would I be upset about him getting it from her? She did me a favor. It was decent dick too so I can’t be mad that she’s enjoying it.”

“How decent? I’ll fuck him just for some get back. She deserves it.”

McKenna laughed and rolled her eyes. Drea tilted her head to the side and narrowed her soft browns, causing McKenna to add, “Leave that girl alone. I hope they’re happy because I am.”

“Fine, I’ll leave her alone. I miss you though and is he rich?”

“Who?” McKenna acknowledged the woman who filled the stool in front of her feet then glanced at Drea.

“Your new man.”

“Why?”

“I’m trying to see if I need to find another job.”

“Why the hell would you need to find another job?”

“If you quit, I’m not staying there. I don’t like any of them other hoes and I damn sure ain’t dealing with Julie’s annoying ass. I will toss up the deuces and be out of there so quickly.”

“Aww, Dree Dree, you’re only staying because of me?”

“I have bills and shit too, but fuck them bills.” She stuck her tongue out, downed the rest of her champagne, and extended the glass to the woman passing by.

“Two more please.” She smiled sweetly.

“One, I have to drive. This is it for me.”

“Girl, those are mine.”

McKenna laughed, shaking her head. “Okay then.”

Drea grinned. “I’m just playing. It was for you, but I’m going to drink it if you’re not.”

As soon as the woman began removing her polish, McKenna’s phone vibrated with a text. She lifted the device from her lap and smiled at the message.

Carter: How long you gonna be?

McKenna: Why? You miss me?

Carter: Always, but I want to know how long it’s gonna be before I see that new color on your nails while your hand is wrapped around my dick.

McKenna’s mouth dropped open then slammed shut before her fingers began to move.

McKenna: Did you follow me today?
