Clearly overwhelmed, tears stream down Jordan’s cheeks. She’s half-laughing. Half-crying. “Ohmygod. Peter, you did all this for us?”

I nod, happiness bursting from deep inside me. “I wouldn't surprise you like this unless all the people we care about could join us.”

“Let’s do it.” She kisses me. “Let’s get married. Right. Now.”

While the hotel staff expediently assemble the wedding elements, Jordan and I are whisked to the back. Jason and Grace join her while I take my place by the justice of the peace at the altar, which has been set up in front of her mermaid mosaic.

The guests mingle and laugh as they take their seats in the hastily set up chairs. Music fills the air with a joyous hum. As I wait for my bride to walk down the aisle, I reflect on the whirlwind of planning leading to this impromptu—yet perfect—wedding ceremony.

Admittedly, orchestrating this surprise for Jordan wasn’t the tough part. Keeping it under wraps while coordinating with her friends and family has been nothing short of an exhilarating challenge.

The first step was seeking Jason’s blessing.

I remember sitting across from him a few days after we found out she was pregnant, the gravity of the conversation weighing heavily on me because he didn’t know about our pregnancy at the time. “Jason, I love your daughter more than words can express, and I want to spend the rest of my life with her. I would be honored to have your blessing to ask Jordan to marry me.”

The sincerity in his eyes when he gave us his blessing, along with a few words of fatherly advice, is a moment I’ll cherish forever.

Then came the secret coordination with her family and friends. It was like orchestrating a ballet, each move carefully planned and executed with precision. I reached out to each of them, explaining my plan to surprise Jordan with a wedding. Their enthusiasm and willingness to be part of my secret mission was overwhelming. We had group chats and covert meetings, discussing everything from travel arrangements to the perfect timing for the big reveal.

Arranging for everyone to stay at The Mansion’s various villas was easier. The staff go out of their way to ensure every detail is perfect—from the luxurious accommodations to the discreet arrival of each guest.

Of course, the most complicated part was keeping it all from Jordan. Every text message and phone call was a potential slip-up. I had to be cautious, ensuring nothing gave away the surprise. The joy and anticipation in planning this for her, for us, made every secretive step exhilarating.

We're finally all here. Our wedding is about to begin. The color scheme, flowers, music—every element was chosen to reflect Jordan’s taste and our love story. Watching it all come together, seeing the look of surprise on Jordan’s face as she realized what was happening, has been a moment of pure magic.

It’s taken us a decade, but we’re where we need to be.

Jason and Grace flank Jordan as she walks through the garden toward me. A sense of enchantment fills the air as everyone stands and turns to see her approach. As for me, my eyes seem to have sprung leaks.

She’s so incredibly beautiful. My mermaid. My Siren.

My everything.

Hand in hand we say our vows, surrounded by our loved ones in this magical place. I realize this is more than a wedding. It’s a celebration of love, of journeying through life’s ups and downs. It’s a promise of new beginnings and our future—including parenthood, which imminently looms around the corner.

I can honestly say I couldn't be happier than I am right now. Under the starlit sky in Las Vegas, the city where I met the woman I love, vowing to love her forever.

This is our moment.

It’s perfect.

Fifteen minutes later, we’re officially husband and wife. Wonderful energy abounds and we move on to the next part of the evening—our wedding reception.

Everyone moves into the grand hall, which is beautifully adorned with fragrant flowers and warm lighting, while Jordan and I sign our paperwork and take a moment to ourselves.

“Hi, wife.” I kiss her nose. “Did I do okay?”

She swats me playfully. “Hi, husband. I was kind of freaking out you hadn’t asked me to marry you. This is incredible. So perfect for us. Thoughtful. Adventurous. Spontaneous…”

“Uh…” My eyebrows furrow.

Jordan combs her fingers through my hair. “Kidding. I know how much work went into this. Who knew you’d have a second career as a wedding planner. Seriously, baby. I love you so much. I’m so proud to be your wife.”

Our lips meet and, quite honestly, we lose track of time until I hear a loud cough behind us.

“I, uh…hate to interrupt.” Jace looks everywhere but at our disheveled selves. “Everyone’s waiting.”

Jordan spins around and points at him. “Don’t get it twisted, baby bro. I’m allowed to make out with my husband.”
