“I don’t know how that librarian keeps up with her.” He chuckled, and I giggled.

“Me neither.” He watched as I picked up my things and went into my office. Sitting at my desk, I could feel his eyes on me, and I continued my work as I paid him no mind.

Delilah pulled on my hand as we entered the grocery store, and Madam A pushed the cart alongside us. I had to beg George not to come in because I just wanted time with the girls, and he agreed reluctantly but called Nathan to stand outside the building. He arrived in under five minutes, letting me know he must’ve been following us.

“That Killian is something.. I’m so happy he found you,” Madam A said happily, and I chuckled.

“Yeah, I guess it is a good thing..” We went to the vegetable aisle first and picked what we needed. Delilah ran over to the fruit and picked up two packages of strawberries. I kept my eye on her, and she grinned as she dropped them in the cart. She grabbed my hand again, and Madam A returned with the rest of the veggies before we made our way to the meat section.

“Madam A?” Delilah asked.

“Yes, sweetheart?”

“What doesder’momean? You always say it in the dance studio when you’re upset..” Madam A started laughing weirdly, and I looked at her as she tried not to make eye contact with me.

“Let’s not say that word, my little sugar plum..”

“What does that word mean, Madam A?” I asked as I could already tell it wasn’t a good word for a five-year-old to be saying.

“Oh, nothing, Brielle.. I’ll tell you some other time.”

“Mhmm. Stop teaching my baby Russian curse words.” I reprimanded her, and she ignored me as if I hadn’t said anything.

“Benjamin makes the best tea. Just from the first sip, I was in love.” She smiled with a sigh, and I laughed. “Does Mr. Burkley know about this newfound love for Benjamin’s tea?”

“I’d love for him to find out and get a bit jealous, if I must say. We need to spice things up, and he’s doing nothing for me right now.” She pouted, and I hummed.

“So you want to make Burky jealous of Benjamin?”

“Not exactly..”

“What exactly are you planning then? I’m pretty sure Benjamin is married with a child or two.” I disclosed as I heard him speak about them once or twice.

She sighed in response. “I don’t know, but I’ll think of something.” I giggled at her once again, and we moved on to the next aisle. After a while, we almost finished shopping, and Madam A spoke.

“So Brielle.. How are things with you and Killian?”

I froze as I was looking at the stuffing. Placing it in the cart, I shrugged. “Things are alright.”

“Just alright?” She asked, and I looked at her as she gave me a knowing look.

“W-what do you mean?” I feigned ignorance, and she tilted her head.“Brielle.”

I replied in the same tone. “Madam A.”

“You can’t hide things from me, you know.” I nodded my head and shrugged. “And what exactly am I hiding?”

“..Your feelings for Killian.” She replied, and I laughed. “Yeah, okay, if you say so.” She shrugged as well. “Fine.. Why don’t you tell me how you feel about him if you’re not hiding anything?”

“I thought you were all-knowing of my feelings and emotions.”

“I already know how you feel.. I just want to hear you say it.”

“I don’t really know how I feel about Killian..”

“Wrong answer.” She answered quickly.

“Well, I guess you do know me better than I know myself,” I acknowledged, picking Delilah up and holding her in my arms as she grew tired.
