“Y-You didn’t give Bribri a goodbye kiss.” She said sadly, and I shook my head.

“I must’ve completely forgotten. I’ll be sure to make up for it when I see her later today.” I winked at her, and she nodded happily as we exited the elevator. Going over to my car, I opened the car door for her. After I buckled her in the booster seat, I returned to the front and started the engine before driving off.

She hummed a song in the back, and I looked in the rearview mirror to see her on her phone. A few minutes went by, and I heard it ring. She picked it up, and I rolled my eyes as Blaine’s loud voice came through.

“Hello, my little pumpkin!”He said happily, and she giggled.

“Hi, Uncle Blainey!”

“You look all cute and dressed up; where are you off to today?”He asked, and she responded.

“I’m going out with Killy! Say hi, Killy.” She turned the camera, and I raised my hand from the steering wheel so he could see me ‘wave’ hello. She turned it back to herself, and I heard Blaine scoff.

“What’s going on here? You get dressed up for him, and now you two are going places? I thought it was just us?”

“It is just us! B-but I wanted to give Killy some time, too..” I heard Blaine scoff again.

“I can’t believe it. After I went out and bought you a pair of $3000 earrings... You still choose him over me..”I took note of that in my head, and Delilah sighed.

“Uncle Blainey, it’s not like that-” He cut her off.

“I don’t want to hear it. I’ll see you at dinner,”He concluded and ended the call. Delilah placed her phone down and huffed. “Killy?”

“Yes, sweetheart?”

“Do you think Uncle Blaine is really upset?”

I rolled my eyes. “Don’t worry about him, little one. He’ll get over it eventually.” She giggled, and I pulled up to the mall. Stepping out of the car, I went to get her out from the back. After setting her on my hip, she looked around and noticed several other black cars pull up and men step out. She pulled me closer, and I chuckled as I rubbed her back.

“Sweetheart, these are just my bodyguards. No need to be afraid of them.” I set her on the ground, and she looked at them cautiously as she grabbed my hand. I looked over at them as I spoke seriously.

“I need a guard at the main entrance, a few inside the mall, and two with me.” They nodded, and five walked away while the two stayed behind. Going to the entrance hand-in-hand with Delilah, she gasped as she looked around the mall and squealed softly.

I watched as she looked around the mall in awe as we walked toward the Build-A-Bear without her knowing. On the way, heads were turning, and whispers began. I ignored them like usual, but Tyler and Jason took extreme caution if someone got too close.

We were right in front of the store, and I tapped her shoulder to gain her attention. She looked over at me, and her smile grew bigger as she looked up at the store. Before entering, Tyler and Jason secured the area. As we walked in, I was greeted by a man who looked like he was ready to shit his pants.

“H-hello M-Mr. Russel. H-h-how can we help y-you today?”

“It’s obvious enough, isn’t it? I’m here to buy a bear, or is that not what you’re selling in this establishment?” He gulped and stuttered as he tried to get his words together. Ignoring him, I directed Delilah to the hundred bears along the shelves.

Her jaw dropped. “There’s way too much, Killy!”

“Well, get as many as you want, sweetie. We can buy the whole store if you’d like.”

“That sounds nice, but some of them aren’t that cute,” She criticized, examining the bears as she let my hand go. I chuckled as I couldn’t tell the difference between any of them. They all looked like dust-collecting space fillers, but I bit my tongue as this was not my shopping trip.

I looked around the store to see other people, trying not to make it obvious that they were curious as to why I was with a child, and Tyler made it very clear to them that photography was not permitted. Delilah came over to me after about five minutes and grabbed my hand.

“Have you chosen already, darling?”

“Yup. That one, that one, this one, this one over here and… OH, that one.. but I don’t know which one I like better..” She contemplated, wanting to make the decision only to get one, and I shrugged.

“We’ll just get them all then,” I said, looking over my shoulder to see the pant-shitting man a few feet away, waiting for a command.

“You heard her, right? Go get them and make it quick.” He nodded, and Delilah and I went over to the stuffing station. She had a massive smile on her face the entire time, and that was the only reason I stayed put without snapping completely. The man came over and started the process of stuffing the bears. She also had to make some sort of wish with a little red heart to put inside the bear.

She made her first wish, which had to do with puppies, and I took a glimpse at the different outfits. My eyes were drawn to a tiny tuxedo, and I walked closer to it to see the detail. The matching shoes weren’t terrible, but not something I’d particularly want on myself. I heard a throat clearing, and I looked up to see Jason.
