“Any day now, Killian.” I stepped over to the door and opened it to see him standing there with an unimpressed look on his face. He then went to take a seat on the chair in front of my desk. As I sat behind it, neither of us said a word.

“Killian.” He broke the silence, and I responded in the same chipped tone.

“Father.”

“I have spoken to a few of my partners in Europe and had the remainder of the needed conferences moved to London.” He confirmed, and I nodded my head.

“Is that the only reason you’re here?”

“Not quite.. I have a few of my shareholders coming today to discuss some things with you, and… you will not believe who just attempted to invest $15 million into one of the branches you will own in the next two weeks?” I glanced up at him, and the look on his face made me groan.

“Just ignore the idiot.”

“How long will this feud between you and Calvin Lockwood go on? It’s been well over five years.” He asked, and I responded. “As long as he drags it. I don’t want anything to do with the fucker, and now he wants to become part of my company?”

“He’s trying to get close to you.. the man is very determined and will take any risks. I’m letting you know that it has to end.”

“Lockwood is the least of my problems, and you know that.” He didn’t say anything, but I knew the conversation of Calvin was nowhere near finished. Brielle walked out of her office, and my eyes gazed over to her.

“Sir, the men from Wonderprises Inc. are here to see you and Mr. Russel.” She said, addressing both of us. I stood up and ignored my father, who was staring at us in slight confusion as I followed her out of the room.

Checking my watch and noticed that it had been well over two hours. The men were indecisive about the offer I had given them to remain in business together. I was growing impatient and could sense we wouldn’t be getting much more done during this meeting.

Brielle noticed my slight irritation first, and my father caught on second since he was already so used to it. I gave him the side eye, and he raised his hand to silence the men.

“Since we seem to be having problems coming to an agreement, we’ll continue this tomorrow. Meeting adjourned.” He ordered, and the men left the room wordlessly. Brielle walked over to me after she’d closed the door and took a seat beside me. I felt her grab my hand, which was crushing the documents I had on the table and rubbed the back of it softly. Slowly, I could feel myself calming down, and I sighed.

“I don’t understand what’s so fucking hard about making $200,000 a week for a company of their size. If they would get off of their asses, we wouldn’t be in this predicament now, would we? If they want to continue doing business with this company, they better get their shit together.” I seethed, holding my head with my other hand as my eyes were closed.

Brielle just hummed, agreeing with me, and she continued to rub my hand silently. I could feel my anger completely subside, and I opened my eyes and looked over to her. She stood up before I said anything and basically read my mind.

“I’ll be back with your coffee in just a few minutes. Would you like anything, Mr. Russel?” She asked my father, whom I’d forgotten was still in the room.

“No, thank you. I’ll be just fine.” She nodded and walked out into the hall.

“I’m sure I won’t be getting an explanation on what just happened, will I?” He asked, leaning back in his chair, and I shrugged.

“Why don’t you be the judge of what needs explaining?” I said as I didn’t know or care about what he wanted to know.

“What’s going on between you and Brielle, Killian?”

“Why is that something that concerns your interests?”

“Because Killian, you were just about ready to destroy the building mere seconds ago, and the second she touches your hand, you forget all about being enraged. Need I remind you that I am completely aware of you basically devouring her at Masahiko’s building and in her office not even ten minutes after you arrived today.” I sighed as he continued.

“…You’re an open book to me, Killian.”

“For as many people who have said that to me lately, I’m beginning to think you all are delusional.” I shrugged, and he sat up slowly as he spoke again.

“..I see the way you look at her.”

“And what exactly is your point?” I asked, and he closed his eyes and took a deep breath.

“You know what I mean, Killian.. she looks at you the same way,” I chuckled momentarily, ignoring his statement and his eyes directed to the wall behind me. I turned around, and I could slowly feel my smirk going away. There, Brielle stood by Anna’s desk, looking absolutely gorgeous as always, with a bright smile on her face that could have any man on their knees in a second.

As I continued staring at her, I heard my father speak. “Are you sure you don’t look at her in any way other than professional and perhaps… lustfully?” He questioned, and I remained silent as I watched her continue to light up the room with just her presence alone.
