“Dinner is going to start soon..” She whispered softly to him, and he nodded wordlessly as she left his hold and walked towards the dining room, leaving him alone in his thoughts.

Going toward the elevator, she smiled as she saw Killian’s mother, Eleanor, and his father, Frederick. They were dressed as casually as wealthy people could, and it made Brielle happy that they even came. Eleanor saw Brielle and smiled as she pulled her in for a hug, much to Brielle’s surprise.

“Hello, my darling Brielle. How are you?” she asked, pulling away slightly but still holding Brielle in her grasp.

“I’m doing well, thank you.”

“You look gorgeous. Doesn’t she, Frederick?” Eleanor asked her husband, who was too busy in his own world to notice the interaction. He looked down as he came back to reality and nodded his head.

“She does.”

Brielle smiled politely. “Thank you.” After a little bit more small talk, they made their way to the dining room to see Madam A, Benjamin, Mr. Burkley, Blaine, and Delilah standing as they conversed.

Brielle introduced Killian’s parents to Madam A and Mr. Burkley, and in almost an instant, Madam A and Eleanor clicked, and they started their own conversation, leaving Mr. Burkley and Frederick to themselves. Eleanor hadn’t noticed Delilah at first, but once she did, she immediately hugged the little girl and kissed her cheeks.

As she watched them with a smile, Brielle felt a hand on her lower back. She looked over her shoulder to see Killian pulling her close to him. He’d fixed himself up from before, and now, his sleeves were rolled up, giving her a clear view of his well-defined forearms, and his shirt was fully buttoned. He looked polished as usual, and Brielle could feel herself missing the rather rugged and messy look he had when he was engrossed in his work.

She went to lean into his hold but found herself hesitating as she noticed Frederick looking at the two of them from the corner of his eye for a moment. Deciding to pull away, she guided everyone to sit at the table. She decided to sit at the other end of the table to put some distance between her and Killian.

However, she didn’t get far as Killian tugged her back by the arm and pulled the chair beside his own. She looked up at him to see he was relatively calm, though his eyes were directly on his father, who was curiously watching their interaction. Nonetheless, she took a seat beside him while unnoticeably glancing between the two of them, though everyone else hadn’t noticed.

“Blaine, how are you? It’s been ages since we’ve properly spoken together.” Eleanor asked, sparking up a conversation across the table.

Blaine smiled. “I’ve been doing well, thank you for asking. Having a bit of trouble with Mr. Russel over there, but with the help of Brielle, we’re able to control most of the problems that arise from his temper…” Killian rolled his eyes.

“Please, Blaine. One look at Brielle, and I’m perfectly fine. One look at you, and-” Blaine held up his hand, silencing Killian.

“Don’t you even say it. If you couldn’t tell, we have a child amongst us; let’s keep it Dora-friendly in here, okay?” He pointed to Delilah, who seemed more worried about when the food would arrive.

Thankfully, Benjamin walked in on time as he set the table. Brielle stood to assist him and could feel Killian’s eyes on her as she helped serve. Soon, there was a comfortable aura as they dined and conversed in small talk occasionally. Brielle glanced up as she felt a pair of eyes still on her. She made direct eye contact with Fredrick, who decided to speak first.

“Brielle?”

She responded. “Yes, Mr. Russel?” The entire table was now focused on the two of them, and Killian leaned back in his chair as he wasn’t quite interested in the whole family dinner ordeal, much less the conversations.

“Tell me.. How has your experience as Killian’s PA been so far?” She was about to respond but flinched unnoticeably when she felt Killian’s hand on her knee.

She answered with a smile. “It’s been… different.”

“Different…. How so?” Killian inched his way up her thigh slowly, and she cleared her throat as she placed her hand on his to stop him.

“The lifestyle, the responsibilities, the different kinds of stress or worries… It’s been an adjustment.” She admitted as Killian hid a small smile beside her.

“Interesting… And I’m assuming he’s treating you to the best of his abilities, correct?” She bit her lip as Killian effortlessly pulled out of her grip unnoticeably as he continued his torture.

“Yes.. He most definitely does…. Even when I don’t want him to sometimes,” She admitted. A few members at the table laughed and sparked up another conversation. Brielle looked over her shoulder to glare at him as he remained rather impassive.

Killian excused himself momentarily as his phone rang, and he stepped into the other room. As he answered and spoke to one of his employees who needed his approval on a task, he hadn’t noticed Fredrick enter the room, sipping his glass of wine. Finishing up the call, he looked over to his father and spoke.

“I don’t suppose you’re here to stare me down like you did at the table?”

Fredrick chuckled. “No.. not anymore.I got my answer..”

“To what exactly?” Killian asked, and his father simply shook his head as he walked away.

“Just know there’s no reason to lie anymore..”
