“Stand up,” He ordered abruptly, and I did quickly. Out of the corner of my eye, I could see Killian smiling at me, and I secretly hoped he would come to save me. Fabrice picked up a piece of my hair before examining the rest of me as Killian finally came over and wrapped his arm around my waist comfortingly.

“I was wondering what, or rather who caught your attention a few minutes ago. It appears I have my answer,” Fabrice concluded, looking over to Killian before he spoke again. “One of my models is not here for a shoot, and many others have noticed Ms. Newman. I’ve been trying out different models all day, and although she is on the short side, I could maybe see her being fit for it… Would you allow me to borrow her for an hour or so?” My eyes widened, and I pinched Killian’s side as if saying no. He looked down at me momentarily, and I could see the mischievous glint in his eyes as he replied.

“No… I wouldn’t mind at all.” Fabrice snapped his fingers twice, and two of his models approached me and happily pulled me into the dressing room. I glared at Killian with all my might, only to see him happily watching me get dragged away.

Chapter forty-seven

Brielle

Walking into our room, I quickly made my way to the bathroom to avoid Killian, but he caught me before I could even make one step towards it. I tried to push him off, but it seemed pointless as he effortlessly wrapped his arms around my waist and put his head in the crook of my neck. I sighed as he placed a kiss on my shoulder and rubbed the skin on my stomach with his thumb.

“Brielle, darling, are you still upset with me?” I laughed humorlessly as I shook my head.

“I am not just upset at you, Killian. I am furious, outraged, just downright enraged at what you made me do today.” I felt him shrug. “It could’ve been worse.”

I scoffed and turned myself to look at him, still in his arms, and he raised his head to see my face. “Killian. I had the simple thought that Fabrice and his models would put me in a nice dress so I could take a few pictures. After that, I was expecting us to leave. I wasn’t expecting to be thrown in lingerie and put under the spotlight again, unwillingly, might I add.”

“You were in a one-piece, darling. The most it looked like was a designer bathing suit.” I felt my anger rise as I couldn’t muster the words to speak. The embarrassment of it all still wouldn’t leave my mind.

Two Hours Earlier

I was dragged into the dressing room, and once we were inside, the girls sat me down on the leather chair and closed the door. Giggling nervously, I stood up slowly as they looked through the clothing rack, and I made quiet steps toward the door. I was mere inches away from opening it and running when the woman with blonde hair looked over at me and shook her head as she pointed to the chair.

I internally pouted as I walked back to my seat, to which she smiled after I sat down. They approached me, and the brunette woman started brushing my hair. I looked over to the blonde woman who was humming softly as she grabbed her makeup from the drawers next to the vanity.

“You know we’re not going to kill you, right?” The brunette giggled as she looked at me through the mirror. Not sure why she assumed that was my first thought, but it’s nice to know Imightcome out of this alive.

“The fact that Fabrice picked you after seeing you for not even five minutes is a huge deal,” the blonde said, returning to wipe my face with her makeup wipe.

“I guess it is…” I replied softly, and they continued making small conversation with me to make me feel a bit more comfortable. After about fifteen minutes, they told me to stand up, handed me a long-sleeved white mid-length dress to put on, and went out to Fabrice to let him know I had finished. After putting on the dress, I made my way out and saw Killian standing by the camera with Blaine and Fabrice.

He looked at me and gave me a head-to-toe glance before returning to my eyes and biting his lip. Rolling my eyes at him, the blonde, Jada, and the brunette, Madison, walked me over to a stool for me to sit on that was now in front of a black backdrop. I stared at the camera as I had no idea what to do or where to start. Especially with the eyes of everyone in the room focused solely on me. Eventually, Fabrice approached me and positioned me the way he wanted. He returned to the camera and tilted his head as one of his photographers took the picture.

“Right arm up, chin down, shoulders squared.” He started giving commands, and I struggled to keep up. Once I was in position, he shook his head.

“Your face is too confused, Brielle. I need you to be angry yet gentle… innocent but evil.. sexy yet conservative.” I stared at him dumbfounded, but nonetheless, I tried my best. No help from Killian, who was simply analyzing me, his eyes never looking away. We finally finished, and I was eager to take all of this off when, much to my dismay, I was taken back to the dressing room and handed something that looked a lot less than appropriate.

I laughed at the two girls as I looked at the piece of fabric with rhinestones that they handed me and waited for this to be a nice little joke. When I realized I was the only one laughing, I stopped and sighed, knowing this was anything but.

Present

“Killian. Let go of me.” I said semi-angrily, and instead of following my request, he pulled me closer to him and ran his hands over my waist. “If it makes you feel any better, you looked beautiful-”

“No, Killian. That doesn’t make me feel better, but thank you for telling me.” He chuckled, finally letting me go, and I went to the bathroom to shower. Once I finished getting dressed, I walked out of the room and went over to Delilah’s. I saw her lying on her bed while watching a movie, and I knocked twice to gain her attention. She looked up and greeted me before laying back down.

“Hi, Mommy.” I felt my heart flutter as I still hadn’t gotten used to the name, but I walked over and sat beside her.

“Hi, baby. How’s my little girl doing?” She climbed over to me and sat in my lap.

“I’m doing okay.. Are you still mad at Daddy?” I furrowed my eyebrows and responded.

“Just a little bit… how did you know I was mad at him?”

“Well, Regi told me it was best to leave you two alone for a little so you could make up.” My eyes widened slightly as I realized why he did so, and I internally groaned. Standing up, I placed Delilah back on the bed and spoke.

“I’m going to go see when dinner will be ready. Stay here for a little while. Regi will be up to get you soon.” She nodded her head and turned back to her movie. I walked out of her room and went straight to the kitchen as I heard the sound of clattering pans and someone humming. Stopping in the doorway, I cleared my throat, and he flinched as he turned to face me.

“Reginald.”
