“See, that’s why I need all of them,” I continued to look confused as they understood each other, but Reginald, used to the girls using their own languages to speak to him, only shook his head as he turned and walked away.

“God just better give me the strength to get through the weekend, or I’m going to go bloody insane.” The girls said goodbye to me and went to find the poor man fighting to keep up with them.

I turned back to the mirror and finished fixing my hair, then went into the bathroom to do my makeup. Once I finished, I went over to my red velvet shoulderless floor-length dress and slipped it on after removing my current clothing. After putting on my heels and grabbing my clutch, I walked to the door and stopped in the middle of the hall as Killian stood at the end, looking more handsome than ever.

His tux looked new, along with his diamond cufflinks. His hair was slicked back, and his eyes didn’t move from mine as I walked towards him. He gazed down at me as he pulled me over to him by the waist.

“You look absolutely stunning,” he acknowledged.

“Thank you very much. I have dark red lipstick on, so no kissing.” He groaned as I let out a giggle while he walked me down the stairs. Saying our goodbyes to everyone, we stepped out the door to see Leo standing by a black limousine in a tux.

“Did you make Leo do all of this?” I asked, looking up at Killian.

“Of course I did. This night is something to remember, and he knows it,” He replied, and we both stepped into the limo. Leo pulled off, and Killian poured me a glass of champagne as well as one for himself.

“Is Blaine going to be on time?” I questioned, and he sighed.

“He better be. I don’t have time to worry about him, yet I’m always trying to find out where he is, what he’s eaten, or when he’s slept. If all three are not known by me, I cannot guarantee he will get anything done. It’s like a child stuck in a man’s body, but he’s worse.”

“Well, it’s good to know you care about him,” I smiled.

“I couldn’t care less, but if treating him like an actual child is caring, then I guess so.” We didn’t take long to reach the building filled with paparazzi on the outside. I could tell Killian was getting irritated by the second, but he simply grabbed his sunglasses from Leo and handed me mine.

Leo stepped out of the car while putting his on, and we could already hear the screams and shouts that were once muffled. Our door opened, and Killian stepped out and pulled me closer to him. We ignored the questions and flashing cameras and finally entered the building.

Taking off our glasses, we were escorted into the ballroom. Once the doors opened, Killian was immediately dragged away, leaving me alone. I felt an arm around my shoulders and looked up to see Blaine.

“He’s only going to be gone for about half an hour, and after his acceptance and speech, he’s all yours.” He winked, and I chuckled as he escorted me to the table where we would be sitting. Taking a seat across where Killian would sit, I was greeted by Eleanor, who was more than happy to see me.

A good fifteen minutes passed, and I excused myself from the conversation as I felt parched. Going over to the drinks, I grabbed a glass of champagne and took a small sip. However, I could feel intense eyes gazing at me, and I looked over my shoulder to see Killian pouring whiskey into his glass.

I smiled at him, and he didn’t move his eyes off me even as his father walked over to him and whispered into his ear. After not getting a response from Killian, he looked up to what, or rather who, he was staring at and made eye contact with me. I put my head down in embarrassment and walked back to the table. Taking a seat, I watched as Killian went up to the stage with his father, Blaine, Mr. Masahiko, and other members of the board, gaining everybody’s attention.

I didn’t pay much attention to the whole ordeal as I knew exactly what they were saying since I reviewed their speeches a few days ago. When Killian started speaking, I focused on how he asserted his dominance over the entire stage. After what seemed like only seconds, he finished his speech, and everyone started clapping. Coming back to reality, I clapped, and Killian came over and sat across me.

He smirked. “Judging by the look on your face up there and when you cluelessly clapped, I can tell you didn’t hear a thing we said, did you?”

I smiled sheepishly, “Not exactly.” He chuckled deeply, which sent something straight to my core, making me blush lightly. The main course was being served, and I tried my best to engage in the conversation that had commenced between his parents, Blaine and Mr. Masahiko, but it was difficult as Killian was making his lustful stare not discreet at all.

Eleanor turned to him. “Killian, I am thrilled to be the mother of such a fine, hardworking man. I’m so relieved you’ve inherited the business. I was starting to think your father was going crazy.” Frederick’s eyes darted to his wife, who made no effort to look at him, and Killian responded.

“Thank you, mother.” She smiled at him, and our eyes made their way to three men from the board walking over.

“Congratulations, Killian. We look forward to working with you.” One of them said, and Killian nodded.

“Thank you, gentlemen. I look forward to working with you as well.” As they spoke and the light alcohol buzzed in my system, I bit my lip as I felt an idea come to mind.

“So, what are your plans for your company moving forward?” Another spoke, and Killian was ready to reply, but he froze as I slowly ran my foot along his ankle from across the table. He glanced at me dangerously for a moment as I sipped my drink ‘obliviously.’

Clearing his throat, he looked back to the men. “Gentlemen, I’d like to enjoy the rest of this dinner without discussing business matters. So please, if you will.” He said, cutting the conversation short. The men apologized and walked away, and Killian looked over to me. Taking another sip, I watched as his eyes lingered on me momentarily as I continued feigning innocence. He engaged in conversation with the rest of the table but looked over at me from time to time.

Biting my lip once again, his jaw clenched as he spoke. As his eyebrows furrowed in contemplation and his breathing deepened slightly, I moved my foot against his once again, and he stood up, making everyone look over at him. He walked over to me and placed his hand on my arm as he leaned down to my ear to whisper loud enough that everyone could hear.

“Join me on the dance floor, will you?” He demanded rather than asked, and I noticed his eyes dared me to defy him. Nodding my head, he let go of my arm and walked me over to the dance floor, hand in hand. Standing in the middle of the swaying crowd, Killian pulled me over by the waist, and I wrapped my arms around his neck. We swayed back and forth to the slow classical music.

“Congratulations on your big night, Mr. Russel..” I smiled, and he sighed.

“Can I ask what your intentions were at the dinner table, Ms. Newman?” He asked, and I tilted my head.
