“Yes?” He looked hesitant to speak again as he opened his mouth.

“….Thank you.” I tilted my head. “What for?”

“Mr. Russel.”

I rolled my eyes. “There’s no need to say thank you. He’s too self-centered to see when he’s being irrational or foolish.” I saw his lip tilt up for a quick second as he replied.

“You do realize you are the only person on this Earth who can actually say that to or about him?” He asked, and I laughed.

“I am well aware of the privileges I have with Mr. Russel.” I smiled, and we continued to sit in comfortable silence until I felt a pair of eyes on me. This feeling wasn’t bad, but.. it didn’t feel too welcoming either. I looked around discreetly before my eyes locked on someone, making my heart drop and my blood go cold. I felt chills down my back, and my mouth suddenly went dry. There satEugeneacross the room, sitting in a booth, staring directly at me, and his stare was very intense.

I felt like time was going by slower as he slowly started to lose his intense stare as he realized I was staring back. He was in a light brown sweater, jeans, and white sneakers. He was always one for dressing casual and comfy… He had a beard coming in and looked like he was… just fine. My heart was pumping, and I was hoping to God I wasn’t hallucinating. I started standing up slowly, and Nathan noticed as he grabbed my arm softly.

“Ms. Newman, are you alright?” I barely heard, and he repeated the question, making me snap out of it as I turned to him.

“Huh?” I didn’t realize how tensed and breathless I sounded until he stood up and took a defensive stance.

“Are you alright, miss?” He asked, and I slowly turned my head to Eugene to see… he was gone. I furrowed my eyebrows as I could’ve sworn he was sitting right there. Other times when I ‘saw him,’ it was what he looked like as a teenager, but today was.. different. He was older, and he also stayed longer than the ones I would have imagined. I cleared my throat and nodded as I turned back to Nathan.

“Yes, Nathan, I- uh… Would like to go back to the office, please.” I requested, and he nodded stiffly as he guided me out of the doors and called George. Soon, I was stepping into his car, and my heart finally started to slow down. We arrived at the building, and I walked to the elevators, still processing it all.

I exited when the doors opened and went into Killian’s office to see him on the phone. He looked close to breaking something, but once he laid his eyes on me, he relaxed slightly but furrowed his eyebrows. Ending the call abruptly, he stood up and walked over to me. He ripped my purse and jacket out of my hand and pulled me closer to him. He caressed the side of my face and looked down at me with much worry in his eyes.

“Darling, why do you look like you’ve seen a ghost? Did something happen while you were out? Do I need to lower Nathan’s salary?” I stopped him, shaking my head. “No, Killian, Nathan again didn’t do anything wrong…”

He tilted his head. “Then what is the problem, my love?” I tried to form the words but began to feel myself choking up.

“…. Eugene… I saw him today.” Killian didn’t show the utmost surprise, but it was clear that what I had just said made him a bit indifferent.

“What happened?” He asked, and I shrugged helplessly.

“I saw him across the room, and then all of a sudden, he disappeared when I looked away…” He was contemplating something for a moment before speaking.

“Are you sure that was him?”

“Yes! I’m not going crazy, I-I really saw him… at least I think I did.” Killian nodded his head as he kissed my forehead, and I continued. “I don’t think he’s dead, Killian. I thought he may have been, but I’m sure he’s alive.”

“I believe you.”Looking up at him, I smiled softly. “You do?”

“Of course I do.” I gave him a kiss on the lips, and he pulled away from me after a few seconds.

“We’ll talk more about this later. I have some more work to do.” He patted my bum, and I rolled my eyes at him as I walked into my office and closed the door.

Omniscient

Delilah stepped into the kitchen, and Benjamin smiled as he saw her.“Well, good morning, little one. I see you are already ready for the day, and you didn’t even need to call me to assist you.” He said, flipping her pancakes, and she smiled.

“I tried to do it like you do, and I did everything by myself!” He chuckled at her loudness and prepared her plate.

“I know you did everything, sweetheart.” Finishing up, he sat her breakfast on the counter and picked her up to sit her on the stool.

“Thank you, Benny,” She said politely, and he replied.

“You are very welcome.” Going over to the dishes, he started washing them as he looked over his calendar. He had plenty of errands to run today, which needed to be finished before the holiday trip to Canada.

“Guess what, little one?” He began, already gaining her attention as he continued.“I have a lot to do today, and I need a very special helper to accompany me. Do you think you can be that helper?” She nodded her head ecstatically.

“I can, I can!” He went over to her and bopped her nose softly as he grinned.
