“Oh, Killian, thank you for allowing us to stay.. even if it wasn’t exactly willing.” I chuckled and responded, hugging her as well. “It’s not a problem.”

“You all realize just a few minutes ago... he made it very clear that he didn’t want any of us here?” My father announced in utter confusion, and I quickly replied.

“Stay out of this, Frederick. Mr. Burkley, how are you?” He stood up and shook my hand as he nodded his head.

“Fine, thank you.” I nodded, and Brielle entered the room looking beautiful as always. Delilah came in from behind her, and Benjamin followed in as well.

“I would just like to thank you all for coming and deciding to spend your holiday with us. We will be getting the tree up soon-”

“What tree?” I blurted out accidentally, and she looked over at me.

“The Christmas tree.. We have to put the presents somewhere.”

“Was I supposed to buy presents for everyone in this room? I only planned for you and Delilah.” I questioned, and her eyes slightly glared daggers at me.

“Goodness, Killian, no, you did not have to. Now, can I finish, please?” She spoke with a slightly annoyed smile, and I nodded.

“Of course.” She rolled her eyes at me playfully and continued speaking about the few things she had planned for the week, like dinner, lunch, etc. She finished speaking, and the room started to disperse. Soon, I followed her up to our room and watched as she walked over to her suitcase.

Lying back on the bed, I ran my hands down my face as I contemplated. Everyone.. including Eugene, is here. As much as I would much rather not be a part of this holiday, I wanted this to go right for Brielle.

A few seconds went by, and I felt the bed dip and a leg going over to the other side of me. Looking down, I saw Brielle straddling my waist as her hands rested on my chest. Sighing, I leaned my head back, and she tilted her’s with a pout, making her hair move.

“Let’s go out to dinner..” She spoke, and I answered as she slowly ran her hands up and down my torso.

“And leave those people in my home unsupervised? Of course not.”

“Killy.. I was thinking you, Delilah, and I could go out on Christmas Eve..”

I sighed. “Saying Killy won’t automatically mean you can get what you want.”

“But it works every time, doesn’t it?” She replied, giggling, and I switched our positions, so now I was looking down at her body that was now sprawled on the bed. On my knees between her bent legs, I ran my hands over her waist as I tilted my head.

“Sure, it does, but as you know… my compliance comes with a price.”

“And what is it that you want, Mr. Russel?” Leaning down, I placed a kiss on her neck as I lifted her hips up to me slightly.

“I think you already know what I want,Mrs. Russel..”

“Is that what you’re calling me now?” She questioned, and I placed a small kiss on her neck before speaking.

“Of course.. It’s only a matter of time before I formally ask you to marry me. Naturally, your response should be a resounding yes.”

“And what if I say no?” She asked me, and I chuckled.

“You know I’d never let you do such a thing.” She rolled her eyes playfully, and I was close to claiming her lips when-

“Mommy?” -we heard a voice. We both looked over to the little girl who stood at the edge of the bed, looking very confused. I cleared my throat as I got off of Brielle. She blushed slightly as she sat up and spoke to Delilah.

“Yes, baby?” I picked Delilah up from the ground and placed her on my lap.

“…What were you and Daddy doing? Do hugs last that long?” She questioned, and Brielle gave a small smile.

“Yes, baby, they can. I was just having a small talk with Daddy, that’s it..”

“Oh.. I wanted to know if you and Daddy could come to play in the snow with me?” I sucked in a breath, but apparently, I was too loud as they both turned to me.

I cleared my throat again. “That sounds like fun, darling. Run along and go get ready. We’ll be downstairs in just a minute.” She happily jumped off of my lap and ran out of the room. Brielle stood up, and I grabbed her arm before she could walk off.
