Calvin flicked his wrist. “Marissa is the least of my problems. She was paid to play a part, and now she wants more.”

“If you’re certain that she’s after more, I’m sure you’re well aware of what’s going on then..”

“What do you mean?” Calvin questioned, and Killian hesitated slightly as Brielle was in the room, but nonetheless, he continued. “You ‘ordered’ her to stay away, and well, she’s done the complete opposite. If you have any idea of what the hell she’s planning, you might want to tell us before all hell breaks loose.”

“The complete opposite?” Calvin furrowed his eyebrows as Killian opened the text messages sent between him and Harrison, then handed the phone to him.

Brielle, on the other hand, tried to keep a level head as she attempted to make sense of all that was happening. She felt a tug on her arm and looked back to see Eugene standing there. He nodded towards the door as he whispered.

“Can you maybe step outside with me for a moment?” Brielle nodded with a bit of worry in her eyes. The two of them walked to the door, and Killian looked over his shoulder, silently thanking Eugene for taking her out of the room for whatever reason it was. Calvin handed the phone back to Killian and crossed his arms.

“I honestly didn’t think it’d get this far…” He muttered, and the two men continued to listen to him. “I only brought her in as a mere threat to you and Brielle, but I soon realized that it wasn’t the smartest decision to..”

“So your idea of a mere threat is bringing in a person that literally gives another person nightmares into the same room?” Killian questioned as Calvin looked over to him and shrugged.

“…At the time, it seemed logical.”

“Well, now your ‘logical’ decisions are backfiring, and they aren’t getting any better.” Killian fumed, and Calvin sat there without saying a word as he analyzed the situation.

After seeing the potential benefits Brielle could bring into the future, he realized earlier how idiotic it was to bring in Marissa. He noticed how persistent she had been about taking Brielle down from the beginning, but he didn’t know if she’d actually put any effort into doing so.

“If you want to put an end to this, you need to find the root of the problem. Marissa and her parents are bankrupt. I occasionally sent her about 300k every week or so, but all in all, they’re broke.” Calvin explained, and Blaine tilted his head as he spoke.

“Didn’t they take about $25 million from Brielle and around $20 million from Eugene? I mean, I know it’s been a few years, but how could they have spent it all? And that’s still not including how much Marissa had.”

Killian shook his head. “So not only are they doing all of this to make Brielle suffer, but they’re doing it so they won’t remain poor. I need to make a few calls in order to get this entirely sorted. In the meantime, Lockwood, don’t do anything stupid…”

Calvin smiled. “I will surely try my hardest, Killian.”

Meanwhile, Brielle had stepped out of Calvin’s office and looked over to Eugene, who looked on edge once again. Calvin’s secretary led them into a private conference room, and Brielle thanked the woman before she closed the door and sat on the sofa beside him.

“Eugene, what’s going on? You’ve been acting strange all day..” She asked, and he looked over to her.

“Brielle… I know this is the most shitty timing ever to be speaking about this kind of subject here, but I’m afraid if I don’t get it out now, I won’t bring myself to do it later.” She nodded her head, and he continued.

“I need you to stay with me as I break this all down… For you, Marissa, and I, it’s easy to say we’re all siblings because it’s the truth. We could also say for all three of us that our father is ourfather.. but..” Brielle watched as he lowered his head while taking one of her hands in his.

“…But what?” She whispered to him, and he gave a heavy sigh.

“For you and I…. Our mother isn’t exactly ourmother.”

Cheryl entered her husband’s office only to see him talking to their daughter. She took a seat beside them, and Marissa looked over at her mother for a split second before directing her attention back to her father.

“Marissa, you need to concentrate. One slip-up, and we all go to prison. You need to memorize this exact statement when speaking to the judge..” Marissa nodded, and after a few minutes of conversing, she excused herself and walked out of the room. Cheryl sighed as she watched Gregory pour a glass of whiskey and drink it down in one gulp.

“Your childrenare starting to become more and more of a problem as time goes by.” She commented, and he sighed, placing the glass down.

“And those problems will be dealt with very soon.. need not worry.”

“After 25 years, I still have no valid apology or reason for why you slept with her again.” She muttered rudely to him, and Gregory sighed.

“Cheryl, not this again…” She stood up and narrowed her eyes at him.

“Yes, this again. You still haven’t given me a reasonable explanation as to why you went to her, twicefor that matter!” Gregory walked over to her and wrapped his arms around her waist. “Cher, you know those were my mistakes-”

“Yes, and those mistakes are figuring out things that should be left unspoken.”

“Which is why this will all be over soon. I despise them just as much as you do.. Once Marissa gains custody of Delilah, this whole thing will be over.” Listening to her husband, Cheryl leaned up to kiss him with a smile on her face.
