“I do, Killy, and I appreciate it as always. I love you.”

“I love you, darling. Have fun. I’ll be hearing from you soon.” She giggled. “Yes, you will.”We bid our goodbyes, and I continued to work with Blaine’s non-existent assistance on different arrangements. After a good 45-50 minutes, he stood up, and my eyes went over to him.

“What do you want for lunch? I was thinking Italian, but I don’t know yet.”

“I don’t mind. Get me the same as you. Just make sure what you get isn’t shit.”

He chuckled. “Sure thing, Kiki.” He walked out of the room, and I continued to work. Looking down at my watch, I noticed another twenty minutes had gone by, and Brielle still hadn’t called me.

She was already ten minutes late, and I was getting anxious.Maybe she’s in the bathroom? Eating? Busy?

My hand itched to pick up the phone to call her, but to my surprise, she beat me to it as it started to ring. Feeling relieved, I picked up the phone, and before I could even speak, I heard heavy panting.

“Brielle.. Car.. Hospital. Now!”Nathan shouted in four short words, and the call ended. I didn’t move from my seat.. pure shock was all that I felt. I blinked a few times before everything started to blur into red, and my chest heaved up and down slowly.

I stood up and made a beeline for the door. Not saying a single word to my employees, my pace started picking up, and I entered the elevator to go down to the garage. After the anxiety-ridden elevator ride, the doors opened, and I ran over to one of my cars and quickly got in.

Not even bothering to put on my seat belt, I swerved out of the building and raced to the location of the hospital Nathan had sent to me.

On a trip that should’ve taken thirty minutes, I arrived in less than ten and ran into the hospital with the feeling of my blood boiling. I opened the door and made eye contact with the receptionist, who stared at me, merely terrified. In the corner of my eyes, I saw Nathan pacing back and forth as he held an ice pack against his forehead. I marched towards him and gripped his collar as I pulled him over to me.

“What in the fuck happened, Fuller?” He gulped, and only then did I notice the absolute worry and unshed tears in his eyes.

“Brielle.. There was a car, and she almost got hit, and I pushed her out of the way and-and,” He uttered quickly, stuttering over his words, and I let go of him as I went further into the hospital.

“WHERE THE HELL IS SHE!” I screamed, making everyone in the current hall jump in fright. Noticing someone getting pushed along on a hospital bed, I looked closer and quickly recognized the hand that held the large diamond ring. I made my way over to her, and I could gradually feel my sanity trying to slip away.

My head hung low as I listened to the monitor beside me, with Brielle’s heartbeat going by steadily. Blaine sat beside me as he quickly rushed to the hospital as soon as I’d called him. We’d been sitting for about an hour, and I gazed up to see her beautiful sleeping form.

My knee bounced anxiously, and I looked down at my folded hands. The door opened, and I listened as the doctor entered the room, but my head remained lowered.

“Good afternoon, gentlemen… As of right now, we’ve stabilized her and found that the reason for her unconsciousness is the result of a concussion from the collision. Thankfully, it wasn’t too severe, and she should be awake soon.”

“And our baby?” I asked, and he spoke.

“We were able to locate the heart, and everything appears to be fine. For some patients, during the first trimester, the sound of an infant’s heart is too soft to hear or depict from the mother’s heart. Once we were able to stabilize her, we located it, and now everything looks promising. The only problem we’ve noticed is her lack of nutrition, which is simply because of the absence of prenatal vitamins in her diet. I’ll prescribe her some, and when she wakes up, after a few tests, you all will be able to go home.” As I remained silent, Blaine thanked him, and I heard the door close as he left.

I didn’t say anything as I felt Blaine’s hand on my back.

“Killian?” He spoke, and I looked up at her as my heart constricted and tears filled my eyes.

“I thought I lost her, Blaine… I almost-” I couldn’t finish my sentence as my words didn’t want to form.

“But you didn’t, Killian. Brielle is going to wake up, and that baby is going to be alright. There is no doubt in my mind that everything is going to be okay. She loves you too damn much not to wake up.” I nodded my head as I looked down. I wiped my tears away and sighed.

“I never want her to see me like this. Vulnerable, broken. I don’t want her to see me as weak-”

“Too late..”My heart soared as I heard her soft voice cut me off. I looked up again and saw a small smile on her face as she gazed at me lovingly. I stood up and went over to her side.

Pulling her in for a kiss, I placed my hands on her face, and she moved one of hers up to my wrist. We pulled away from the kiss, and I rested my forehead against hers.

“I willneverlet you out of my fucking eyesight again. If not, you’re staying home or leaving the house with two or more guards. Fuller was lucky he pushed you out of the way in time, or I would’ve killed him. I’m not letting this shit happen again.”

She placed another kiss on my lips and spoke. “I love you too, Killy.” She whispered softly, and I heard the door being thrown open. I watched as Madam Alexandrova came barreling towards Brielle, and she pulled her into a bone-crushing hug, effectively pushing me out of the way.

“Oh, my child, are you okay? How do you feel?Who do I have to kill?” She spoke hurriedly, switching to Russian at the end.

“I could tell you if you weren’t suffocating me…” Brielle said, her voice muffled, and Madam A pulled away. I watched Mr. Burkley walk in and noticed a woman coming in with Delilah on her hip. She was a bit short, and her features resembled those of a model.
