Brielle set her things on her desk and sat in her chair as she turned on her computer. She held in a groan as she saw the many emails that filled her inbox. She started to answer them, and through the process, she opened today’s schedule to see Killian had four meetings scheduled for the day.

One in particular was a personal meeting with another CEO named Blaine Porter. He was to arrive in the next hour or so, and she continued working as she waited. When she was almost through with the seemingly endless emails, the phone rang, and she picked it up.

“Mr. Russel’s office, Brielle Newman speaking. How may I assist you?”Over the weekend, she practiced a different greeting but still wasn’t too happy with it.

“Hello, Ms. Newman. How are you, sweetheart?”Brielle’s face turned at the words of the man.

“Fine, thank you. May I ask who’s calling?”

“Oh, my apologies. My name is Blaine Porter. I have a meeting today with Mr. Russel.”

“Of course. You can make your way up. I will inform Mr. Russel of your arrival.”

“Thank you, Brielle.”He hung up, and Brielle put the phone on the receiver. From what she could hear, he seemed mischievous, and she had wondered how Killian dealt with him with his own stone-cold attitude.. Making her way into his office, she spoke, gaining his attention.

“Mr. Russel? Mr. Porter has arrived for his meeting.” Killian nodded and set the file in his drawer as Brielle walked back into her office and grabbed her notepad and iPad to take notes. Walking back out, she put them on the sofa in the corner and stepped out of the office to prepare their refreshments.

A few seconds after she’d walked out, Blaine walked in with a look of shock. “That’s Brielle??”

Killian rolled his eyes at his over-exaggeration. “Yes, that’s her.”

Blaine took a seat on the chair. “I get why you’re so pissy lately. I would be, too, if I had to see her every day.” Killian again paid him no mind even though his assumption was not entirely false.

Brielle walked into the office with the refreshments. After pouring each of them a glass, she went over to the sofa to take a seat. Blaine opened his briefcase and handed Killian the documents and contracts.

“I had one of my guys down in accounting check to see if these companies are undergoing any bankruptcy, and the results came out clean,” Killian muttered as he looked at the different contracts.

“These are the traveling dates I have scheduled. Most are after December. I’m sure if you have something that week, we can squeeze it in.” Blaine suggested, and Killian sighed. If it had been anyone else, he would’ve said no, but he’d trusted.. well, somewhat trusted Blaine and his plans.

“What news have you heard from them so far?” Killian asked, leaning back and taking a sip of his water.

“All good things so far. Shin Masahiko and his men from Japan are ecstatic about their company renovations.”

“Mr. Masahiko is a terrific business colleague of mine. His success rate has never failed to impress me. Good pick,” Killian responded, genuinely impressed. He had multiple business deals with Shin Masahiko, and with the renovations from Blaine, the company would essentially be in the palm of their hands. After about twenty more minutes, Blaine smirked at Killian. Killian caught onto his facial expression, which came out of nowhere, and turned to Brielle.

“Darling, can you go make us two coffees? He’ll have the same as me.” Brielle lifted her head from her notes and nodded as she left the room. Once the door closed, Blaine let out an exaggerated gasp for air as Killian looked unamused.

“Can we open a window or something?” Blaine asked, fanning himself dramatically.

“What the hell are you even talking about?”

“I could barely even breathe with all this tension in the room.”

“What?”

Blaine rolled his eyes. “There is obviously some sexual tension between the two of you.”

“You’re an idiot,” Killian remarked, turning back to his computer, and only a few seconds went by before Blaine spoke again.

“Your traveling season starts in the next week or two, right?”

“..Correct,” Killian responded cautiously.

“Brielle is going with you too, I assume?”

Lowering the file in his hand, Killian held back a groan as he spoke. “Where are you going with this?”

“Have you ever read the fine print on Brielle’s contract she signed?” Blaine questioned, and Killian gave him his full, undivided attention. Neither he nor Brielle read the contract. He just wanted to have her by his side, and she basically had no choice but to accept. He had one of his assistant executives construct it, and the only person who actually read the 10-page contract was Anna.
