Grabbing my clothes, I started looking around for a bathroom. As I suspected, there was one on the far side of the room. I entered and looked around at the decor. It amazed me, once again, how much money Killian had. I still have no clue why he would want me, of all the people to choose from, to be by his side as his assistant.

After taking a much-needed shower, I dressed in the light blue long-sleeved dress and white pumps that fit well. I took my hair out of my braids and fluffed it until I was satisfied and left the bathroom. I walked over to my baby, and she rubbed her eyes as she sat up.

“Hi, baby.” She smiled at me and put her arms up. I cooed as I walked over to her and set her on my hip. She had dance class again tonight since she got off early yesterday, and Mr. Burkley dropped her off. Killian didn’t have many meetings left for the week, so I was going to speak to him about my schedule from Wednesday to Saturday. I still want to teach at the studio; even one day to go each week would be great.

After getting her ready as well, we roamed his home for a short while. Reaching the kitchen, I saw Benjamin in a new tux with a waist apron on as he stood by the stove and hummed to himself. We walked over to the kitchen, and he still didn’t seem to notice us. Delilah pulled on his pant leg, and he jumped as he turned to us and mumbled low enough so she couldn’t hear him.

“Bloody hell.. Just gave me the fright of a lifetime.” He sighed as he regained his composure.

“Good morning, Ms. Newman, and good morning, Ms. Newman.” I smiled as he turned off the stove.

“Good morning, Benjamin.. You don’t have to address me or Delilah that way, you know.” He began preparing the plates in front of him.

“Whatever you say, Ms. Newman.” I rolled my eyes at his antics and walked over to the dining room where Killian was now walking into, wearing one of his tailored suits. I blushed as I looked down and pushed my hair out of my face. It’s like once he walks into the room, I turn into a whole different person for a split second and make a complete fool of myself..

“Good morning, girls,” I heard him say, and Delilah gasped as she saw him and let go of my hand, running over to him.

“Killy!!” She ran into his legs and hugged them tightly. He chuckled deeply as he petted her head softly. I made my way over to them, and he looked up at me before running his eyes over my outfit and up to my eyes. I couldn’t help but feel slightly self-conscious when he did that because I could never tell what he was thinking.

“Good morning, Brielle.” He spoke, and I cleared my throat softly.

“Good morning, Killian.”

Delilah got off him as she saw Benjamin making his way to the table with the food. We all took a seat, and he served us eggs, bacon, pancakes, and toast with a side of orange juice. Delilah and I thanked him, and Killian nodded his head towards him. We ate silently, and when we finished, Benjamin came back and took our plates with the help of Delilah, who went to follow him.

“Today, instead of back-to-back meetings, we’re going to plan our flying dates with a team of executives. I’ll also send you with George to gather your essentials,” he said, leaning back in his chair. I nodded in agreement.

“I wanted to discuss my schedule, including Delilah’s.” I began, and he replied, “I’m listening.”

“Well, I haven’t completely quit my other job, but I haven’t been able to work much. I was wondering if you could spare me one afternoon a week from Wednesday to Saturday?”

“What are the time frames?” He asked, and I answered swiftly.

“3:15 PM to 7:00 PM.”

“I’ll give you Thursdays and Fridays, but this doesn’t reduce your workload,” he warned.

I nodded, “of course.”

“Now, what about Delilah?” he asked.

“I was thinking, on our way to the office, could George drop Delilah off at the library?” I inquired.

“Why?” He stood up and glanced at the time, and I followed suit.

“So someone can watch her,” I explained.

“That won’t be necessary. Benjamin will watch her,” he said as if it were the most natural thing in the world. I followed him out of the room, puzzled.

“Why can’t Mr. Burkley watch her?” I asked.

“There’s no point in having her leave and return when you have a perfect nanny replica sitting in the kitchen,” he said dismissively, and I attempted to devise another idea. Maybe it was my increasingly growing lack of autonomy in my own life, but I didn’t want him to control or dictate every little thing I did.

“But… he also needs to take us to practice.”

“George is now responsible for all your departures, so he’ll take you.” His behavior completely took me aback. He completely disregarded everything I said and imposed his own ideas instead. As I walked away in frustration, he stopped me by placing his hand on my stomach, which caught me off guard and made me blush. He leaned in and whispered in my ear.

“Darling, there’s no need to pout or make a fuss. Let’s be grown up about this. I’ll be waiting by the elevator.” He took his hand off of my stomach and grabbed his briefcase. After he left the room, I grabbed my things, trying my best to seem angry.
