Once I sat down, Killian touched my leg again and started rubbing my knee. I could tell he was slowly becoming more antsy by the minute, and this was distracting him, so I didn’t mind. Blaine sat next to him, and Calvin and his two buddies sat on the sofa across from us.

“Long time no see Killian… How have you be-” Calvin started, but Killian cut him off.

“What in the actual fuck do you want?”

Calvin smirked. “Still as hostile as you were back then.. Good times, I remember.”

“Well, I only remember the insufferable times,” Killian responded, and Calvin directed his eyes over to me for a second.

“You’re awfully closer to your PA than you ought to be, aren’t you…. Though I wouldn’t blame you. She’s adorable.” I could feel Killian squeeze my knee slightly, and I glanced over to see him practically fuming.

“Again, Calvin. What do you want?”

“I wanted to catch up with you. It’s been a while, as you know already. We could talk over a game of pool?” Killian thought for a moment.

“What’s the catch?” He asked, and Calvin chuckled.

“Killian, you know me better than this. Why would there be a catch?”

“Because you’re a backstabbing deceiver who wants nothing more than his own personal gain,” Calvin shrugged.

“Alright, you got me. If I win… I get a day with your little PA.” I glanced up quickly and hoped Killian would disagree.

“Absolutely not,” Killian answered emotionless.

“Come on, Killian. Aren’t you the big man on campus? This should be easy for you… unless you don’t think you’re good enough.” Calvin retorted, almost tauntingly.

From the corner of my eye, I could see Blaine shaking his head. Almost as if he knew the worst was yet to come. Killian contemplated on what to do as he narrowed his eyes slightly. “What do I get in return?” He spoke, and my hope practically flew out the window.

“I can give you fifty grand in cash.”

“Bullshit. I don’t need your worthless money.”

“Well, since we’re going to have many more encounters. I guess I can leave you alone for a week or two.” By the time Calvin said alone, Killian was already up and removing his suit jacket. I stood up and followed him as he walked over to the table. The other men followed as well. Killian handed me his suit jacket, and I rested it on my arm. After both men grabbed a pool cue, Calvin gestured toward the table.

“After you,” He said, giving the first shot to Killian, and Blaine came up to my ear, shaking his head. “Rookie mistake.”

“Why?” I whispered back, and he replied.

“Just watch.” I watched as Killian prepped himself to shoot, and once he did, the balls dispersed, but two bold-colored ones went into the holes. Killian walked around to the next one and shot it in perfectly.

“Your father is handing over his business to you in a few months..” Calvin spoke.

“That he is,” Killian confirmed, shooting another one in.

“That would mean you make more profit in the end, and we all know by now, I don’t want that to happen,” Killian shot another in.

“So what did you have in mind?”

“Sabotage is always an option, but I don’t want to seem too desperate.”

Killian shrugged. “Being desperate is one of your many skills, Lockwood. Pretty hard to lose a skill you practice every day.” He shot another one, but it rolled away, giving Calvin the chance to play finally. He executed a few good shots before it was Killian’s turn again.

“Are you still against doing business with me?” Calvin asked, leaning against the pool cue, and Killian hit another ball.

“Of course I am. You tried to scam me into signing a five-million-dollar contract for your company. You also tried to hack into my system to see if you could do anything to harm my industry in any way you could.”

“Huh? I wouldn’t want to do business with me either.” Killian hit the last ball, but the 8-ball was completely out of his range. Calvin gave me a quick glance before he smiled as he spoke.
