I leaned down to stretch, placing one leg before me and putting my hands on the ground as I lunged. Alternating for both legs, I continued with the rest of my stretching routine, though I could sense his eyes were on me.

Putting one leg in front and the other in the back, I slowly slid down while keeping my hands steady on the ground. Once both legs were entirely on the ground, I looked over my shoulder to see Killian staring directly at me. He didn’t keep his stare discreet. It was almost as if he wanted me to know he was watching as his eyes had darkened further.

Keeping my eyes trained on him, I felt a bit of confidence as I leaned down and laid my head on my knee. Was I teasing him? Possibly. Did I notice his Adam’s apple bob slightly as he watched me shamelessly? Absolutely. Was I growing hot and bothered by my own stunt that was intended to make him feel this way as I simply watched his reaction to me? Most definitely.

Deciding to calm my thoughts, I looked away and slowly brought my legs together as I sat up. As I moved to stand, however, I paused as I heard quick footsteps approach me. In an instant, Killian grabbed my jaw in his hand as he gazed at me with lust and desire. He leaned down slightly, and his heated eyes drifted to my lips before returning to mine. I gulped softly as he narrowed his eyes slightly, and in an instant, his lips landed on mine.

I moaned into the kiss as my hand reached up to his hair. He got down to one knee, and I shuttered as he gripped my waist with one of his hands. My hand found his bicep as I held back a moan that wanted to surface. His other hand lowered to my neck slowly, and I felt a surge of something rather.. foreign. I felt a sense of passion, excitement.. desire.. something I was unaccustomed to.

And with the way his veins appeared along his arms and his jaw clenched in concentration, I was a goner. However, my euphoria was cut short as he pulled away and tightened his hand slightly around my throat.

“Now… you know what it’s like to be teased..” He uttered, and I let out a small breath as he pulled away and walked out of the gym wordlessly, leaving me alone while my face was flushed in arousal and embarrassment.Well.. that’s one way to try to relax.

Walking out of the kitchen and to the living room, I noticed Delilah fast asleep on the couch for her afternoon nap. I picked her up and carried her to our room, gently laying her on the bed. Although I was still a little uncertain about the idea of her having her own room, I knew that she would need to start learning to be independent soon. As I left the room, my phone started ringing in my pocket. I quickly reached for it and held it up to my ear, wondering who could be calling me at this time of day.

“Hello?”

“Hi, my name is Tracey, and I am from Clover Credit Union. Can I speak with Brielle Newman?” I tilted her head in confusion as I responded. “This is she.”

“Yes, Miss, I was just calling to inform you that the payment you made three days ago has been delivered back to your account as it has all already been paid for.”

“I’m sorry?” I muttered, confused, and she continued.

“Yes, we received an email informing us that you will no longer be paying as they have already covered all the costs for your future expenses and payments.”

“….Thank you.”

“You are most welcome. Enjoy the rest of your day.”

“You too. Bye.” I hung up and returned to my room to grab my laptop. I signed into my account and saw that the woman was right. Even though I had withdrawn some money yesterday, the rest was right here.Surely this had to be a mistake.. there was no way my bills just randomly got paid, and the bank received an email to return the money.

Something clicked as I trailed off in my thoughts and walked out of the room. There was only one person I knew who was highly impulsive, spontaneous, and secretive all at once. Making eye contact with him as he walked into the foyer, I went to approach him.

“Killian?” He held my gaze as he spoke. “Can I help you, Brielle?” He asked, and I crossed my arms.

“Did you pay my bills?” I asked, and he nodded.

“I did. I also added about ten grand to Delilah’s savings and college funds.” I felt my eyes pop out of their sockets as I practically yelled. “You did what?!”

He walked away as he shook his head. “Darling, you and I both know I do not enjoy repeating myself.”

I ran after him and managed to step in front of him so he couldn’t keep walking. “Killian! Spending twenty grand in a day is something worthy of repeating!”

He rolled his eyes. “That’s barely even a percentage of how much I make and spend in a week.” He said nonchalantly, and I was taken aback. Until this job, I barely made that much in a year. In fact,I made $800 less.

“Killian, spending that much money on your PA’s niece is insane.”

He shrugged as he responded. “It really isn’t.”

“I need to repay you,” I spoke, and he shook his head. “No, you do-”

“I earn $6000 per month. I can repay you in under four months. Does that work for you?” I asked him, not taking no for an answer, and unsurprisingly, he chuckled in return.

“That’s cute.”He walked away from me, and I scoffed as I followed him. “Killian, I’m serious!”

“I’m sure you are, darling.” I felt infuriated and could feel the steam coming out of my ears. As Killian walked into his office and went up to his bookshelf, I ran into my room, grabbed my wallet, and rushed back out to find him in the exact spot. Taking out the $500 I had on hand, I held it out to him. He eyed the money and then looked back into my eyes.

“Take it. I’m serious, Killian. I am going to pay you back.”
