Reginald took our coats, and Delilah tapped my leg. “Yes, baby?” I bent down to her level, and she spoke again.
“I’m hungry,” She voiced, and Reginald approached us.
“I’m sure I can fix you something to eat before I get started with supper. Come along then.” Delilah skipped happily after him, and I looked around at the interior. The only thing that could come to my mind was, why? Why was everything he owned so expensive?
Feeling the devil himself come up behind me, he rubbed my shoulder sensually, and I bit my lip as I looked over at him. Killian was a man of many mysteries. He made me feel things I’d never experienced before, making me think.
Why would he force me into the job? Why did he make me move in with him? Why does he touch me the way he does… why does he kiss me? He was sending me mixed signals, and it was hard to understand what he wanted. When he initially asked me to dinner.. I was confused. Why did he ask someone like me to be his assistant? Why was he ‘intrigued’ by me?
I felt him mess with my hair, and after a few seconds, it fell down my shoulders and back. He placed both hands on my waist, and I put mine over his wrists as I leaned my back against his chest.
“Killian?” I muttered, and he responded as a small shiver went down my spine. “Yes, darling?”
“…Why were you angry in the car?” I felt him tense up, and he sighed. “We have to attend an event tonight.”
“Is Calvin going to be there?” I asked, as that was probably the reason he was upset. However, he shook his head. “Thankfully, no..”
My eyebrows furrowed. “Then why are you upset?”
“…My mother and father travel the world on a weekly basis. They just so happen to be here in London and attending the event.” He began feeling irritated, and I waited for him to continue. “The worst part is that Blaine informed them of you and Delilah. I received a text from my father saying he and my mother wanted to meet you both, and if they didn’t, he would postpone the day of me inheriting his company.”
My eyes widened as I turned out of hold and looked up at him. “Is meeting Delilah and me that necessary?”
“To my parents and Blaine, it is.”
“..So what happens now?” I whispered, and he sighed.
“Delilah will be attending the event with us.” After thinking for a moment, I realized that we were in another country, and it was essential to be cautious. I didn’t want to go to places where our identities could be exposed, as I had no information about my family’s whereabouts, and I didn’t want them to find out where we were, either.
He stepped towards me and gently brushed a strand of hair behind my ear. “Are you sure about this?” I asked, my concern evident in my eyes.
“Darling.. Everything is going to be just fine. The paparazzi have no access to this place, and the pictures we take won’t be released to the public,” he assured me. I nodded in agreement, and we gazed into each other’s eyes.
His pupils dilated slightly, and I felt my heart skip a beat as I watched him bite his lip. We were only inches away, and my mind flooded with our kiss in the gym and at the dinner, his hands on my waist and neck.. my face flushed as I craved more. As we were practically seconds away from kissing… the door opened. We turned to see who it was, and the culprit sucked his teeth.
“Wow, I just killed the mood quicker than Usain Bolt.. I’ll just be closing this now.” Blaine pulled the door closed, and Killian groaned.
“I can’t do any fucking thing without being interrupted.”And he’s back. I knew it was only a matter of time. Soon, he pulled away from me and went to the contacts in his phone.
“I’m contacting one of my stylists to provide clothing for you and Delilah. Since you have a few hours to spare, go to my office and review the paperwork on my desk. I have postponed the meetings to tomorrow, so I need you to prepare a few presentations as well.” I nodded in agreement as he walked out. As I stared at the closed door, I exhaled softly.
Killian… what are you doing to me?
“Dede baby, do you need help getting dressed?” I asked as I came out of the bathroom. She nodded her head, struggling to reach the zipper that was behind her. As I finished helping her, Reginald entered the room with a plate of finger foods. Since I was already dressed, all I had left was to style my hair, apply my makeup, and sort out my purse.
“Mr. Russel has just arrived and is getting ready in his quarters.” He made known, and I nodded as I stood up and walked towards the vanity. As Reginald approached me with the food, I could sense him cringing at the sight of the many boxes and bags of clothes and shoes scattered on the floor. It was quite chaotic, to say the least. When Killian mentioned that his stylist was coming to give us clothes, I never imagined that she would bring an entire wardrobe.
As I went over to finish Delilah’s hair, I smiled as she giggled in the mirror. “Oh, you look so cute, baby!” I gushed, and she beamed, holding the hem of her dress. Reginald nodded approvingly and offered her a small sandwich.
I gave her some white Mary Jane shoes before I turned to the mirror and finished up my own hair and makeup. Reginald handed me my purse, and I looked at myself in the mirror. Running my hands along the black dress as my figure was accentuated, I felt almost unrecognizable.
“Bribri looks so pretty!!” Delilah gushed, jumping up and down as Reginald agreed.
“I agree with the little one, miss. You are sure to turn more than just a few heads.”
I internally groaned. “Let’s hope it’s not too many..” I muttered, and we all left the room. While walking down the stairs, Reginald escorted Delilah to the bathroom as she requested. Meanwhile, I went over to one of the pillars and waited for the two of them in the foyer.
Hearing someone approach, I looked up to see Killian standing across the room, his darkened eyes trained on me. He breathed in deeply as he ran his eyes over me, and I blushed as I also took in what he was wearing. He was in a gray and black suit, his hair, as always, was done to perfection, and his cleanly shaved jaw clenched slightly as he watched me.
