“Just a few pictures of you and him the other day being rather affectionate… Would truly hate to see those get out to the press.” Brielle’s heart sank, and she looked over to Killian, who had a murderous look on his face as he glared at the man.

“W-well, what did you want in return?” She asked, trying to keep herself at bay, and Calvin shrugged.

“25% of his company’s shares is what we agreed on.” Brielle’s face turned at his dramatic price, and she shook her head. Killian barely gave out more than one percent of his shares, and when he did, the people who received them worshiped him like some sort of God.. which only inflated his ego further. She took a deep breath before replying.

“You can send the pictures out.” Everyone replied to her statement simultaneously in shock.

“What?”She could see that Calvin wasn’t exactly sure how to respond, as she had just given him permission to expose them. Killian opened his mouth to speak, but they all looked down as they heard the pitter-patter of feet and a slight cough.

“B-bribri?” Delilah said softly as she clung to Brielle’s leg. Calvin looked down and made direct eye contact with the little girl, who began staring him down. There was some sort of tension between them, and everyone else in the room felt it. Calvin decided to break the ice as he smiled.

“Well, hi there, kitten.” She looked him up and down before speaking.

“Hello,” she glared, and he was taken aback by her sudden change of pitch and tone. He turned away from her and looked at Killian.

“You can keep your pictures.. They won’t do me any good now.”

“Such a sudden change of heart,” Blaine replied, tilting his head, and Calvin smirked.

“I have plans for other objectives.. far greater than what I had intended initially, but they will be for another time. We’ll show ourselves out.” He let his eyes linger on Brielle and Delilah for a second before they left the office. Killian walked over to Brielle, who didn’t make it discreet that she didn’t want to look at him.

“Brielle-” She cut him off.

“Not right now, Killian. We’re lucky he didn’t send those out, but who knows what he’s planning to do now… It’s not your safety, sanity, or child on the line here. You could’ve at least told me.” She picked up Delilah and walked into her office, slamming the door shut. Killian walked away, running his hands down his face, and he looked over to Blaine, who watched the whole thing as if it was a soap opera.

“Damn, Kiki.. you fucked up.”

“Don’t you think I know that!” He raised his voice, and Blaine sighed.

“Calvin is devising another scheme right as we speak, and we need to figure out what it is.”

“How far can he really get Blaine? It’s Calvin we’re talking about here.”

“Killian.. you and I both know that man can’t even wipe his ass on his own, but he can learn how to manipulate one,” He snapped his fingers. “In seconds.”

“Thanks for the visual, Blaine.. what do you even mean?”

“He’s fast. Why else would the moment he laid eyes on Delilah cause him to reconsider his plan to jeopardize her and Brielle’s safety?” Killian thought deeply for a moment as he processed the information in his head.

“Going off topic here, it looks like your mind is preoccupied with something other than Calvin. What is it?” Killian looked over his shoulder to Brielle’s office to see if she was looking, but she made clear that she wasn’t by turning her chair away from him. He turned back to Blaine and lowered his voice.

“I need information and close intel on a man named Eugene-” Blaine cut him off and spoke as he clearly remembered Delilah speaking of an Uncle Eugene.

“Boyfriend?”

“Brother.”

Blaine smirked. “For a second there, I thought you were going to kill someone.” Killian shrugged his shoulders.

“With Calvin running around.. we can’t be too sure about that statement.”

Chapter twenty-six

Killian

Walking into the penthouse, I sighed as I glanced at the time. I’d sent Brielle and Delilah here a while ago while we were at the office, and I knew she was still angry. I wish I could say she was wrong for being upset, but she has every right to be. Placing my briefcase on the counter, I heard Benjamin’s footsteps, and he came and stood by me, not saying a word. I looked him in the eye and could tell he knew what happened.

“I’m not in the mood for it tonight, Benjamin.”
