“Never had any time or need to be in a relationship.” I nodded, and she gazed at me with suspicion. “Why do you want to know?”She asked.

“I’ve just been… thinking about a few things lately,” I mulled, tapping my fingers on the edge of the table. Her eyes shifted to them for a second before returning to mine.

“Thinking about what?” She whispered. I didn’t say anything for a while as I wanted to get my words in the proper order.

“…..Theoretically speaking.. how would you feel if I asked for your hand in marriage?”

She stared at me for quite a while, not saying a word, before a smile broke out on her face, and she started laughing. I furrowed my eyebrows as she continued with tears of laughter coming to her eyes.

“You’re laughing at me. Why is that?” I questioned, tilting my head. She wiped her eyes with her finger and shook her head with the smile still on her face.

“Because you’re insane, Killian.” She calmed herself down and finally looked up at me as I responded.“How does asking you that question pertain to me being insane?”

“Killian.. do you know what you just asked me?”

I shrugged my shoulders. “I asked the question, so I’m well aware of what I said.” She held her head in her hands and shook it.

“God, he’s finally losing it.”

“What am I losing exactly?”

She put her hands down in disbelief. “Your mind, Killian. Your mind. We have not even known each other for two months. Obviously, we share rather.. intimate and inappropriate moments, but that’s not anything compared to years’ worth of commitment to actually have a relationship with someone.”

“Brielle.. If you don’t remember. I was speaking theoretically.”

“Killian!” She whisper-yelled. “You don’t speak theoretically or ask for anything…ever! You speak what’s on your mind and do whatever you want, when you want. The fact that you spoke theoretically while asking what my thoughts were regarding you asking for my hand in marriage is so unlike you. I truly don’t believe you-” She halted, and I frowned as I wanted to continue hearing her ramble.

“Killian.” She voiced, and I replied.

“Darling?”

“That wasn’t a theoretical question, now was it?” She asked, and I shrugged.

“No, it didn’t pass my mind as something to be thought of as theoretical, but I thought it would please you more to hear it come out that way.”

“And you weren’t really thinking ofaskingfor my hand in marriage now, were you?” She looked into my eyes, and when I didn’t reply in the first few seconds, she held her hand up. “Say no more..”

“I thought I made it pretty clear when I told you I’m going to make you mine,” I uttered, and she scoffed before flipping her hair over her shoulder as she placed her hands on the table while folding them. I could see the waiter coming over with a smile, but once he saw Brielle, he turned and walked away.

“Killian. This is our second date. I’ve met your parents once. You forced me to move in with you- What more do you need me to say?”

“You don’t need to say anything.”

“So why are you even bringing this up if you know my answer will be no? And if you try to pull out some kind of contract from underneath the table or your chair, I will scream bloody murder.” She seethed, and I pondered momentarily before I sat back in my chair and pushed it further out. She eyed me carefully, and I stood and walked over to her silently. Holding my hand out for her to take, I spoke.

“Come with me, Brielle.” The color drained from her face, and she gulped.

“W-why?”

“Come with me.” She bit her lip as she turned around and looked to the front of the restaurant, where she saw a few people at the tables. We were in a highly secluded area, so no one was allowed back to where we were going.. but she didn’t know that. Looking back at me, she realized I was still waiting for her.

“C-can we not do this right now?” She whispered, and I continued to stare at her as she knew I wouldn’t change my mind. She stood up slowly and looked over her shoulder once again as she saw a couple being seated. Her face got hotter, and she pleaded with me once more.

“Please, Killian, we can leave right now if you want.” She begged, and I simply watched her fidget as I wasn’t changing my response any time soon. She placed her hand in mine, and I walked further into the back of the restaurant to a private bathroom.

“K-Killian… what if someone walks by and sees us?” Chuckling as we entered, I locked the door to the unused and extremely clean restroom.

“Well, I can’t guarantee that no one will see us, but you just have to ensure that no one hears us.” Taking off my suit jacket, I nodded to the sink and placed it on the hook.
