I let out a small breath as the only sounds left in the room were my racing heart and the tiny drops of water from my hair falling to the ground. In playing hislittle game,I realized he’d left me hot, bothered, and wet.. quite literally and figuratively.

And with the way he strode out, something tells me the door was never locked to begin with.

I stepped out of the car and approached Killian, who looked like he was trying his best to keep his cool. We had arrived at Calvin’s gala, but Killian was clearly not in a good mood. As I went over to him, I noticed his hand clenched tightly into a fist. Without hesitation, I reached out and took his hand in mine.

“Killy?” I whispered his nickname, and he calmed down slightly.

“Why the hell are we here?” He snarled, and Blaine walked over to us and placed his arm around his shoulders.

“We’re here to find out what he’s up to.. no need to let him get under your skin.. Why don’t we go in? Find something to take your mind off of being here.” Blaine sent me a look, and I nodded as I pulled Killian over to the entrance.

We entered the building, and I tilted my head and looked around. The decor was relatively similar to Killian’s style and class. Even so, I didn’t really think to expect much from Calvin, given his history of attempting to match or surpass Killian.

We walked over to the refreshments, and I grabbed two glasses of champagne. I handed him one, and he took a sip before pulling me over to him by the waist. I tried to push him away with one of my hands, but he barely even moved.

“Killian. We’re in public.” I reminded him as I could already feel the stares of a few people, though he simply looked down at me in admiration.

“Did I tell you that the only reason I’m remaining so calm is because of how breathtaking you look tonight?”

“If that’s making you calm down, then be my guest and stare away,” I sighed, sipping my champagne.

“You don’t have to tell me twice.” He uttered, and I rolled my eyes at him. I wasn’t dressed in anything too fancy. My hair was down my back in its natural wavy state, and my dress was simple but fitting as the sleeves went down my arms and the fabric hugged my frame slightly.

Blaine approached us and whispered in Killian’s ear. Killian nodded in response, and I groaned when I saw Calvin walking towards us, a smirk on his face.

“Hello, my darling Brielle..” He greeted, and I gave him a somewhat forced smile. He grabbed my hand to bring it to his lips for a kiss, but Killian’s eyes snapped over to us, and he pulled my hand out of Calvin’s.

“What do you want, Lockwood?”

“Oh, Killian.. So nice of you to join us this evening. Are you enjoying yourself?” He asked and Killian shook his head. “Perhaps you could tell that I am not.”

Cavin chuckled. “I knew you would give me that answer…”

“Oh well then, you know me too well.”

“I know you well enough, Killian,” he said with a wink, and I felt Killian’s grip on me tighten as Calvin continued. This event is dedicated to my five-year-old son. Sadly, he’s having a nap right now, but I’m sure if you had brought a kitten, they could have had a swell time together.”

“With all due respect, Calvin, I wouldn’t willingly bring Delilah anywhere near you, let alone your son,” I confessed, and he sighed.

“Well then… I guess their meeting will happen in another chapter of life… Much like asequel.”

“Calvin, I don’t think you even know half of the shit that comes out of your mouth..” Blaine said, chuckling.

“I am well aware of what I say… most of the time. I’d also like you all to meet my date. She’s gone off for a moment, but I’m sure you’ll be quiteshocked when you see her.”

I placed our champagne glasses on the table, ignoring Calvin’s presence, and pulled Killian over to the dance floor slowly to calm his growing rage. Placing my hands around his neck, I gazed into his eyes as he put his hands around my waist.

“Do you know how much I actually want to kill him?” He asked me as I smiled, caressing his hair gently as he relaxed under my touch.

“A lot, I bet,” I whispered, and he continued gazing at me possessively.

“I thought people were watching us, Ms. Newman..” He muttered, lightly caressing my hip with his thumb, and I shrugged.

“Well.. it wouldn’t be the first time they’ve seen us together, Mr. Russel..” I acknowledged softly, and he went to speak when I felt someone push past us from behind as they made their way through the crowd.

“Excuse me, sorry,” She apologized, and I glanced over my shoulder. “It’s fine..” I turned back to Killian, but he kept his eyes trained on the woman behind me.

“Brielle… is that.. you?” I turned around, feeling perplexed by the familiar voice, and my heart sank as soon as I unfortunately recognized the person standing behind me.
