“I don’t quite follow what you’re implying,” Killian uttered, and Blaine resumed.

“Tomorrow, Kiki, you’re gonna play spy. You are the best person when it comes to being sneaky or staying focused. Hell, you’re the most fearless person I know.”

“Thank you for the comments, flattering really… yet I’m still confused as to what you want me to do exactly.” Blaine chuckled once again and turned to his laptop.

“You’ll find out soon, Kiki.”

Killian

“Blaine?” I spoke into my earpiece as I walked down the rainy streets of New York.

“Mmm, yes, Killian?”He responded, and I sighed. “I want to strangle you again.”

“Why?”

“Because you’ve got me walking in the damn rain trying to find Brielle’s brother while you’re in my office enjoying a fresh coffee and plate of pancakes at my desk!” I seethed, and he paused for a moment.

“…How did you find out about the pancakes?”

I rolled my eyes. “You’re honestly ridiculous, you know that? How do you even know he’s gonna show?”

“He will, don’t worry, and at least I was courteous enough to give you an umbrella..”

I forced a grin. “How nice of you..” The plan Blaine had explained to me this morning had almost nothing to do with him. The objective is for me to go over to where Eugene was last spotted and wait for him to make his appearance.

And, of course, George couldn’t just drop me off because Eugene would catch on once he noticed the car. Given that he was the one who took the pictures of my vehicles and looked up at me in my office from the street about two weeks ago, we’re well aware that he knows the plate numbers and car models.

Once I locate Eugene, I am supposed to ‘talk’ to him… but for some reason, we both assumed at the exact time that it wasn’t going to work. So we have a tracking device to plant on him if I can get close enough. If he spots me and I’m too late, we may not get this opportunity again.

The only easy part of all this was telling Brielle where I was ‘going’ as she was doing Delilah’s hair. Technically, I didn’t lie about my whereabouts, though she didn’t pay me much attention. It was only drizzling, but I expected Delilah to come down with something. Despite that, however, she didn’t feel any symptoms once Benjamin gave her some of his honeydew tea.

“How was your night Killian?”I furrowed my eyebrows as Blaine spoke, and I halted at the stop light.

“What do you mean?”

“You know… How was your night? I’m sure you slept pretty well.”

“What are you even-” I cut myself off, letting out a groan as I continued walking once the light turned green. “What do you know?”

“Kiki? Why would you assume that I know anything…”I paid him no attention. However, I stopped in my tracks when I heard him speak again, but much more professionally.

“Heads up, Killian, I got eyes on him from the camera across the street.”I looked across the street, and sure enough, I witnessed Eugene walk out the front door of the post office as he opened up his umbrella. I turned my head to the side and tried to seem occupied and out of his sight.

“Okay, what’s the plan?” I urged before Blaine spoke.

“Plan A is to walk up to him and talk, Plan B is to walk past him and plant the device, and Plan C is to run after him if he takes off..”

“I’m going with Plan B.. He is getting ready to cross the street now. I’ll just cross him and plant it.” I strolled back over to the corner and kept my head lowered.

“My money’s on C- oh, and just a heads up, he could be armed.”I hummed in response.

“Why would I assume anything else from the ex-military track star murderer?” I muttered and looked up at him as I tried to examine his exterior to see if there was any indication of a weapon. However, he paused his movements and abruptly looked up at me as if he knew I was staring, unfortunately causing us to make direct eye contact. I put my head down and spoke.

“I’ve been spotted.” I looked up at him once again, and he gave me one more glance before walking away from the corner. I walked parallel to him, and he looked across the street to see me walking at the same pace as him. He started speeding up, and I caught up. Then, all of a sudden, he dropped his umbrella and dashed down the street as I did the same.

“I guess we’re going with Plan C,”Blaine commented in my ear, and I quickly responded as I was too busy keeping my eye on Eugene.

“I need to cut him off.”
