“You knew what he was thinking?” She questioned, and he replied.

“Any man thinks the same when they look at you, Brielle. It’s not hard to miss.” He wrapped his arm around her waist and pulled her over to him from behind.

“So you’re saying I can’t speak to other men?” She asked, tilting her head as she finished setting the tray.

“No, I’m simply saying that I won’t allow any man to talk to you if it’s not for your benefit.”

She smiled at his possessiveness as she turned in his hold and looked into his eyes. “Is talking to Blaine to my benefit?”

“Of course not, but he knows the dos and don’ts, so he’s fine.” Brielle rolled her eyes, and he pushed a piece of her hair behind her ear with his other hand.“I missed you.” He whispered, and she shook her head as she crossed her arms playfully.

“I’ve been gone six minutes.”

“More than enough time to want you back by my side.” He muttered, and she kissed his lips as he chuckled, giving her hip a slight squeeze.

It was about two in the afternoon, and the meetings were progressing gradually. They were currently having a small conference with Mr. Masahiko and his two assistant associates in Killian’s personal office. Brielle noticed that Mr. Masahiko had relocated them all to Killian’s office, and she thought about why, considering the words of the man she’d bumped into earlier.

She assumed Mr. Masahiko did so because Killian could lose his temper if things got out of hand with his associates. As Jurou stated, such occurrences happened previously. Still, she didn’t think anything would transpire now as things were going relatively smoothly.

Blaine received a call and excused himself as he stepped into the corner. Brielle eavesdropped slightly on what he was saying to ensure everything was going alright, but she looked over to him when she heard his tone drop and get serious.

“Lance, you know to only call this phone in case of an emergency. What’s the problem?”

“Sir, we’ve just gained intel from the airport that Calvin Lockwood has left the country with a few of his men and has located where you and Mr. Russel are right now. He’s going to Japan.”

Brielle saw a slight look of fear and anger on his face, but she didn’t know why. All she knew was that it had to be urgent.

“Lance, don’t play fucking games with me-” He growled and halted when he received a message. He told Lance to wait a second and glanced down at his phone to read it. Brielle heard Killian’s phone buzz on the table, and he looked over to her and nodded towards the phone so she could check his message.

She picked up his phone and noticed it was a text fromLockwood... She opened the message, and her eyes went wide as she glanced over to Blaine, who, by the look on his face, received the same message. He ended the call and strolled over to them, trying to keep the smile on his face. He waved childishly at Killian, who looked at him as he stopped talking.

“Hey, um, Kiki.. can I uh talk to you about something?” He stammered, and Brielle could hear the tremble in his voice. Killian folded his hands on the table.

“Blaine, we are in the middle of an important discussion that has to do with your business. The least you could do is show some courtesy and join in with your input.. not that it’s needed much.”

Blaine waved his hand as he gave a silly chuckle. “It’s just a minor inconvenience, Kiki. It’ll only take a second… Gosh, is it getting hot in here, or is it just me.” Killian furrowed his eyebrows as he stood up, noticing Blaine’s questionable behavior.

“Blaine, what’s the matter?”

“Nothing is the matter, Killian… nothing at all. I’d just like to have a conversation with you, preferably in a room with just us two.” He spoke urgently, eyeing the others in the room for a split second. Killian walked around the desk, and they all watched as he did.

“Blaine, don’t lie to me.”

Blaine rolled his eyes. “I would never lie to you.”

“You just lied to me right now. What is the problem? You have literally two seconds to answer.”

“Well….. We may have a tiny, little, itty bitty, mini problem,” He warned as Brielle handed Killian his phone for him to read the message.

Lockwood: Killian.. My dear friend, how are you? I’m sure you’re wondering why I, out of all people, decided to send you a message. Well, I’m still wondering why you haven’t blocked me. Any who.. I was in my office the other day, and I thought to myself. How desperate have I been to finally see you fail these past few days? Perhaps not desperate enough, seeing as though you’re flying around the globe as if you own it and getting profit left and right. Now, I can’t let that happen… I may know where you are, and I may just be flying over to you right now to pay you a visit. I like this game of cat and mouse that we play, don’t you? It’s always fun to see who has the upper hand between us, and it seems to be bouncing back and forth. Let’s continue playing.. the game may stop once one of us fails tremendously…. Oh, and please.. send a greeting to kitten and my… your darling Brielle. Tata.

Killian placed the phone on the table, and Brielle could tell he was too calm. He walked over to the desk and put his hands on the edge as he stared down it. Blaine inched closer to him and placed his hand on Killian’s back calmly but quickly retracted his hand when he felt the vibrations radiating from his body.

“Killian…. buddy? Hey, it’s Blaine. Let’s come back from that working brain of yours and have a nice civilized conversation, hmm?” He urged. Brielle stood up when she heard the wood crack underneath Killian’s grip on the edge of the desk. His veins were slowly bulging on his forehead and hands.

“…Blaine?” Killian spoke in a voice that was darker and raspier than usual.

“I’m about to haveone.”
