Myra and Ike exchanged a glance. Ike winked. “I taught him that.”

She laughed. “I bet you did. Your kisses are better.”

He tilted his chin up all manly and pushed out his chest, but she could tell he was hiding a grin.

They both searched for any danger, but it was quiet. Thankfully no paparazzi either.

Beau released Bermuda from the kiss and just said, “Please.”

Bermuda whimpered and put a hand to her lips. Her blue eyes were lit up and focused on Beau. But then suddenly she pulled away. “I don’t know how to trust you,” she said. She turned, running down the beach. Her security guards followed her. Beau didn’t.

He watched her go and then turned to Ike and Myra. “You talk about that Tippin guy.”

“Yeah,” Ike said.

“Is he as good as you say?”

“Sure.”

“Good. It’s time to prove that Divine set me up.”

They spent the afternoon working with Tippin. He crowed with excitement when he finally found evidence that Divine took in a large sum of money from an offshore corporation right before she accosted Beau.

This prompted another in-depth discussion about who would benefit from making Beau look bad and breaking up Beau and Bermuda. They all thought of Donavon. Tippin had already been looking into the guy, but he doubled his efforts. Myra doubted it had anything to do with the Star Stabber, but they hadn’t found any other leads, and it could help Beau with Bermuda.

He’d alternated between looking rejected from Bermuda not deciding she loved and trusted him after that kiss, and elation that they were finding evidence against Divine. He was grateful they agreed with him that Donavon was a jerk.

As they ate dinner, Tippin called. Of course he wasted no time. “Bermuda Gray paid Divine Destiny.”

“No way!” Beau exploded. “Bermuda would never pay Divine and set me up like that.”

“Facts are facts,” Tippin chirped. “You’d never believe the conspiracies I’ve seen.”

Beau looked crestfallen and angry. “I don’t believe it.”

“I’ll send you the paper trail,” Tippin said.

“Tippin,” Myra said, looking at Beau and realizing he was about to explode. “We need to sign off. Let us know what else you find on Donavon.”

“Will do.” He hung up.

“Beau,” Ike said. “You’re certain Bermuda wouldn’t do that to you?”

“No way would she,” Myra insisted before Beau could speak up. “Have you not seen the way she looks at him, the way she glared at me? She’s heartbroken. She loves him.”

“Thanks, Myra.” Beau looked out at the pool. “I don’t know if she still loves me, but Bee … she’s too pure to do something like that to anybody.”

“Yeah,” Myra insisted, finding herself giving Ike a challenging look. “Unless she’s the best actress … Oh.”

“Exactly.” Ike nodded, looking quickly to Beau. “Sorry, man.”

“No. No way.” Beau jumped up and paced in front of the table. “Just because she’s one of the top actresses ... No. I can’t believe it.” He looked physically sick, pale and sweaty.

“Beau.” Ike’s voice was cautious. “Is there any way she’s the Stabber? Nobody would believe it. It’s the perfect cover.”

“No!” Beau yelled, glaring at them. “You can’t … No way.”

Neither of them said anything. Tippin had never been wrong. Myra agreed with Beau, though. She didn’t even know Bermuda, but she could believe the lady loved Beau.
