“I didn’t get any notifications about them being here,” Wolfe grumbles from behind me.

“Flynn’s his brother and Owen’s his second,” is all Dan replies with a shrug.

“It’s fine. Is Sophie still out?” I ask him.

“She left a few minutes ago.”

A few minutes ago? He must not be paying attention if he thought Flynn was me and she just left. I start to tell him she would’ve left at least an hour or so ago to go to the tennis center to play before classes start but decide it doesn’t matter.

“What’s going on?” I ask when I stroll into my office and find my second slouching in one of the guest chairs.

“About time,” Flynn mutters with a grin when he strolls in right behind me. His dark hair is mussed, and his clothes are even more ratty and askew than usual. “What the hell is this I hear about you torturing your own employees over at Emerald?”

Wow. Word travels faster than I expected.

“The shit I do to my employees at my fucking casino doesn’t concern you. Is everything alright? What are you two doing here?” I turn to ask him while Owen gets up to come over.

“We have a surprise for you,” my brother says with a smirk.

“A surprise?”

“That’s right,” Owen agrees. “A stress reliever. You’ve been a cranky bastard for weeks. More so than usual. We asked your favorite girl to come pay you a visit while the wife’s away.”

“What the fuck are you talking about?” I ask them slowly.

“Shana is here, waiting in your bedroom for you,” Flynn explains.

“She’s here?” I look between the two men, wondering if they’ve been concussed or are high on some shit. Owen looks perfectly fine and sober. But my brother’s eyes of course are bloodshot. He’s probably high as a kite. “Are you out of your fucking mind?” I ask them. “Get rid of her. Now! If Sophie comes home and finds out…”

“Sophie doesn’t want anything to do with you, so why are you still waiting her out?” Flynn asks. “You’ll forget all about her rejection after a few times with Shana.”

Scrubbing a hand down my face, I mutter, “You stupid son of a bitch.”

There is absolutely no way this doesn’t bite me in the ass. For days now I’ve been praying Sophie won’t find out the truth about where I was the night of the attack and now…this, gives me something else to lie to her about.

“I don’t want Shana or any other whore to step foot in this house again,” I turn to tell Wolfe who’s lingering in the doorway. “And you two can both get the fuck out,” I tell my brother and Owen.

“See. This is what I’m talking about!” Flynn huffs. “You’ve been a grumpy bastard all because your wife isn’t putting out.”

“What I do or don’t do with my wife is none of your fucking business!” I don’t bother to tell him he’s wrong, that I’ve recently spent an entire day and night between Sophie’s legs. At least my guards kept their mouth shut about that. “Get the hell out! Now!”

I’m herding them out to the front with Wolfe when Wade runs down the hall, sweat dripping down his forehead. “Ah, boss. We’ve got a problem.”

“What now?”

“I just got a message from Toni. Her and Lena are with Sophie.”

“Of course, they’re with her at the tennis center.”

“No, she’s not there anymore, but she’s safe.”

“Then where is she?”

“Toni won’t say. Sophie didn’t want…”

“Where is my wife?” I bellow.

Wade cringes then goes on to say, “Sophie’s asked her to have someone pack up her things and bring them to Dante’s because she’s not coming back here.”
