“Okay,” she agrees.

And the fact that she didn’t say that’s never going to happen feels like a win to me.

Sophie

Despite our argument, how badly it hurt to know where Lochlan was during the attack, it did absolutely nothing to diminish how great the sex is with him.

I don’t remember the walk into the house because my feet didn’t touch the floor. Lochlan carried me, our mouths connected, my arms around his neck, legs around his waist until he pried me off of him to throw me on his bed. Once my wrists were cuffed in the usual restraints above my head, he fastened my ankles to the cuffs attached to chains at the very bottom corner of the bed, leaving me spread eagle.

After he promised it was a new mattress, new sheets, and all new pillows on the bed, he licked me and fucked me. Then he tortured me with the vibrating, thrusting dildo, and clit tickler until I came so many times, I lost my voice from screaming.

That’s why he’s currently pressing a glass of water to my lips, pouring it into my mouth.

“Better?” he asks after the third sip.

“Yes. Thank you. That was…”

“Yeah,” he agrees while putting the glass on the table. Then he undoes the cuffs on my ankles so I can bend and move my legs again. Lying on his side next to me, he runs his fingertips over my bare stomach and breasts absently, making circles around my nipples. “I have toys for your ass too. Are you going to let me take that final part of your virginity?” he asks with a raised eyebrow.

“I can’t exactly stop you like this, can I?” I reply with a tug on the chains to rattle them, making him smile like the devil.

“Soon, princess. I’m going to pop that cherry very soon. The only reason I haven’t…”

“You don’t want to waste your cum?” I guess.

“Exactly.”

When the silence swells between us, both of us lost in our own thoughts of our conflicting plans for the future, I’m the one to finally break it. “Could I ask you a question and you give me the truth?”

His green eyes with dancing gold flecks lift to mine. “Maybe.”

“Did your family have Madison’s mother killed?”

Lochlan’s fingers still on my belly. “No.”

I wait for him to say more, but he doesn’t.

“No? That’s it? That’s all you’ll say?”

“I know the rumors spread that my father was behind the drive-by that killed Dante’s girlfriend, Madison’s mother. I would’ve been only four or five when it happened, but when I was older, I asked him pointblank if he did it. He denied it, but told me she was one of his…employees at the local brothel. My father said someone set him up to cause problems with the Salvatos after the woman had Madison. The man bragged about every kill he made, so I believed him when he swore he didn’t do it.”

“So why did everyone think it was your father? Just because she worked for him?”

I wonder if Madison knows her mother was a harlot in the local brothel. I doubt our father would ever tell her that.

“Because he and Dante’s father had a falling out around that time. I don’t know what it was about, but it happened right before the shooting. Dante and I now believe it was Petrov behind Madison’s mother’s murder, that he wanted to make it look like it was the Irish to cause a bigger rift between our families so we wouldn’t gang up to work against him.”

“That makes sense,” I reply. “Poor Vanessa. Her father sounds awful.”

“Mine was no walk in the park either. But he wasn’t one to kill innocent women in front of babies.”

“Is that why Madison refused to marry you? Because of your family being accused of the murder?” I can’t help but ask. “She never talked to me about it.”

“Possibly.” He smiles, and it’s not smug for once, just pleased. “Although, now I’m grateful things fell through with her.”

“If she ever comes home again, I’ll make sure she knows it wasn’t your family.”
