“Fine. I’ll look but you’re coming with me.” He keeps his gun at the ready. “Every step I take toward the bathroom, you follow. Keep your palms up too. Understood?”

“Y-yes,” I agree. Maybe once he has the proof he wants he’ll leave me alone, let me go back home to my father. I could try and convince him that Dante would kill everyone in Lochlan’s family if I die. It may not even be an exaggeration. If I could just have time until my father shows up or I can call Lochan or scream for more guards, then they can take Flynn out and I won’t have to fight him.

In the bathroom, Flynn peers over into the trash bin and his nose wrinkles at the sight of feminine product wrappers. “All right. I believe you.”

“Good. Great. Can I go now? I’ll go straight back to Dante’s,” I say, using his name as a reminder of the man who would avenge me. “We can pretend this never happened. I wanted a divorce anyway.”

“No. You’ll stay with me. Otherwise, you might try to contact Lochlan and warn him his plane will never make it to LA.”

“His plane?”

No. No, no, no.

Oh god. How does he know Lochlan’s plane won’t make it? What did he do? God, it may already be too late!

I can’t lose Lochlan; can’t have the last thing I said to him be that he deserved to lose everything. I was angry and hurt and fuck, I love him so much and I may never get to say those words to him again.

“Go back around the bed and kick your phone over to me, Snow White.”

It takes me several seconds to realize what he wants me to do because my head is in a panic and my heart feels like it’s being ripped down the middle.

“I won’t. I won’t call him.”

“Shut up, Snow White,” he says. “Don’t lie to me.”

I am a horrible liar. I close my mouth, trying to come up with a plan as I walk around the foot of the bed, eager to put more space between us. My bare foot kicks at the device and it easily slides across the carpet to Flynn.

He bends down and picks it up with his gun still in his right hand, not taking his eyes off me. He shoves my phone into his back pocket.

Flynn’s gaze sweeps over me for several silent moments. “I am glad I won’t have to kill you. You’re too pretty to die.” Now, he retrieves a huge knife from a leather holster attached to the side of his belt. It’s easily twice the size of Lochlan’s extended switchblade. The psycho puts the pointed tip of the long, thick blade to his lips. “In fact, I might just keep you for myself. You were a virgin before Loch, right? I bet I could find all sorts of ways to hurt you if you were tied up in my bed.”

Flipping the knife over, he lunges forward to stab the mattress between us, dragging the blade through the bedding, easily ripping it. Unlike when Lochlan threatened me with a knife, I’m not turned on by Flynn’s violent demonstration.

Why is he even bothering to threaten me with the knife when he has a gun?

Unless the knife is for carving into skin, for his enjoyment. Not to kill but to viciously injure.

He’s a jealous asshole and apparently a psychopath who likes hurting women.

My stomach rolls and I’m certain I’m going to throw up all over the bed in front of me I’m using as a necessary buffer between us. Would vomiting even deter the crazy bastard? Probably not.

“We can use Loch’s bed since he won’t be sleeping in it again and it’s already got the restraints built into the headboard and footboard.”

“How will you…how do you plan to kill him?” I ask to keep him talking rather than attacking me. “Is…is there a bomb? On the plane? Did you, were you really the one who bombed the casino and sent the drones after me?”

“I missed Loch, then missed you. I won’t miss this time. A dozen kamikaze drones are locked on the plane, all set to hit it right at noon. They won’t miss, no matter where in the sky it is or if it’s still on the ground at the airport.”

“That’s…I’m glad,” I lie. I need to get my phone back, to try and call him. Maybe he’s taking a different plane or…or…I can’t fucking think! I have to talk about something, anything while figuring out my next step.

“I tried to choke Loch the first time he fucked me,” I admit just to try and convince Flynn that I hate him.

“Really?” Flynn asks, sounding surprised.

“Yes.”

“Too bad you didn’t kill him then. Now get on the bed.”

“What?”
