“Bang my…wait. What do you mean find someone else?” I ask.

She steals another slice of apple, chews it up while making me wait, then says with a smirk, “The whole point of a bachelorette party is to fuck other people before saying your vows.”

“It is?”

“It’s the last chance you get to experiment with other men.”

Is that true? It’s not like I know anything about bachelorette parties other than the casino has tons of them and bachelor parties almost every night. I had no idea it was some sort of sex fest.

“Like Daddy would ever let me have a bachelorette party.”

“Sure, he will. Since you’re stuck marrying the bastard to help keep his drug business running, he’ll give you anything you want.”

“Anything I want? Even a night like that?”

“Yep. You could be as wild as you wanted from now until the wedding.”

“What about the guards?”

Cass rolls her eyes. “There will always be guards, but I guarantee that none of the guards or Daddy would stop you from doing whatever you want before you get married.”

It’s stupid to think about having sex with a random stranger, but it would be nice to have some sort of experience before my wedding night. A night where it will apparently hurt like hell when Lochlan repeatedly bangs my brains out. Any experience has to be better than none with a man who sleeps with professionals.

I bet Lochlan would be pissed if I let someone else take my virginity since he was adamant that he would be my first. And how exactly would he punish me for ignoring his order to keep my legs closed for everyone but him? Would he even care? Is he like my father and just expects everyone to do what he says?

I thought the way he treated me was different, that I was special. That the intense, at first sight meeting between us was unique since I had never felt it before. But apparently, that was just my naïve, lack of experience.

And if I’m not anything special to him then why should I give a shit what he wants?

Just because I have to marry him doesn’t mean I have to obey him like I’m his dog or a child. After our first encounter, I bet Lochlan thinks I will make the perfect little subservient wife because I froze at the mere sight of his intimidating presence.

So, tell me, princess, are you going to be a good girl who gives it up to me or a naughty girl who makes me take what’s mine?

I’ve always been the good girl. The obedient daughter. But for some reason, when Lochlan asked me that question, I told him “bad” even though he had a knife handle pressed against the crotch of my panties.

And surprisingly enough, he told me that was the right answer.

So maybe he doesn’t expect me to be an obedient wife after all. Maybe he wants me to fight him, to refuse him, as if it’s some sort of game he enjoys playing because everyone else in the world obeys his every word.

I want to play with him, even if I don’t have the slightest clue what the rules are or if know I won’t ever win.

The very next day, Vanessa and I go shopping to pick out a wedding dress. My wedding dress. Well, it’s not just us. We’re surrounded by guards who at least aren’t allowed in the changing area of the boutique.

While the sales lady is pulling a few dresses in my size for me to try on, I ask a quiet, sulking Vanessa, “Do men like my father, like Lochlan, enjoy a challenge?”

“What sort of challenge?” she asks.

“Just…any sort of challenge.” I can’t exactly come right out and ask her if I should deny Lochlan my virginity or anything else he wants from me just to see if it excites him even more.

Vanessa tilts her head to the side in thought. “Yes. I think powerful men like those two are so ambitious that they want to earn their success. If a goal is too easy to obtain, they would get bored. At least your father would. I have no clue what makes Lochlan tick.” She says his name like a curse.

“You don’t approve of me marrying Lochlan?”

“I don’t know much about Lochlan. What I don’t approve of is Dante twisting your arm to get you to agree to this wedding. You should have the option of growing up, dating men, finding someone you love and want to marry, not be handed over to a dangerous man your father chose for you to help his business.”
