Avery looked up at Seb and his eyes went wide. “Whoa.”

Fiona followed his gaze and I watched as her cheeks went deep red. She stopped short and I nearly ran her over. When both Jake and I reached out to keep her on her feet, she lightly pushed our hands away and breathed out a deep sigh. “I’m fine. Just clumsy.”

“Holy shit, batman.” Mallory fanned herself. “How? How is he just as hot as the others? If I didn’t love you, I’d hate you.”

Fiona wasn’t as light when she slapped Mallory’s arm. “Mal!”

Sebastian unbuttoned his jacket and squatted in front of Avery. “You must be Avery. I heard a lot about you. My name is Sebastian.”

“Like Ariel’s crab!” Avery’s grin was so wide that Seb could only shrug and smile back.

“Sure. Like Ariel’s crab.” He looked up at Fiona and then down at where her hand rested protectively over her stomach. He looked back up at her without missing a beat and his smile grew warm. “Hey, angel. Got something to tell me?”

Mallory groaned. “I think I do need that bodyguard’s number, Jake. All these pheromones floating around here are making me crazy.”

“What’s pheromones?” Avery looked at each and every adult around him and settled on me for some reason. Thankfully before I had to think of something, Fiona stepped in.

“They’re just like nose signals that adults can send each other. Imagine the bat signal was just a smell instead of the light.” She scrunched up her nose. “Our bodies are pretty cool, aren’t they?”

“I’d rather see the bat signal.” Avery looked back at Seb. “Do you have a bat signal?”

Before Seb could answer Fiona glanced around and saw that the few people who shared the top floor with Seb were milling around, watching the show. She looked horrified. “I’m so sorry, Sebastian. If this is a bad time, we can come back. Or meet you somewhere more appropriate. You’re trying to work and we’re in the way.”

He stood up and stepped closer to her. “You’re not in the way. I’m assuming the conversation we have to have would be better discussed in my office, though. Not that I would mind having it out here.”

She shook her head. “In your office sounds great.”

Mallory sighed after walking into the large space. “Have you had anyone read the energy in your office? It’s all off. Do you mind?”

She started rearranging things before he got a chance to answer. Fiona looked horrified but didn’t bother saying anything, probably understanding that her sister did what she wanted. “Why don’t you help Aunt Mal, Avery?”

He let out an even more dramatic sigh than his aunt. “Fine. Next time you’re watching her, though.”

Jake laughed and fist bumped him. “You’ve got great comedic timing, kid.”

With just the four of us huddled together, Fiona looked up at Seb and gave a slight smile. “I’m pregnant.”

He nodded. “And it’s obviously mine. It was nice of these two to show up for moral support, though.”

I scoffed. “My swimmers are way stronger. That’s my baby.”

Jake shook his head. “Nope. That’s my kid.”

Seb held up his hands. “Let’s get serious. I’m Daddy.”

Mallory happened to be walking by. “Hell yeah, you are.”

Fiona palmed her face and giggled. “This is ridiculous. I was terrified that you were all three going to panic and want nothing to do with me. I never imagined a world where the three of you fought over whose kid I’m carrying.”

I ran my hand down her back and enjoyed the way she shivered and leaned closer to me. She was even more beautiful than she’d been at the retreat and I didn’t want to stop touching her. “Jake and Seb can go home, angel. I’ve got this.”

“I already scheduled a paternity test for my first exam. I thought I’d be using it to prove to one of you that I hadn’t slept around with anyone else and was just trying to pass the baby off as yours.” Rubbing her flat stomach, Fiona let out a happy little laugh. “I guess we’ll find out in a couple of weeks whose swimmers were faster.”

Avery started pretending to swim around the office. “I’m fastest!”

Mallory cackled. “At some point, you were the fastest. You worked the hardest.”

Fiona made a face. “Ew, Mal.”
