“There she is,” I hear Wells call when I step into the kitchen, finally.

I drop my purse and keys and run into his arms. My legs go around his waist as I hug my baby brother, who is ultimately bigger than me.

“I missed you,” I mutter.

“Missed you too, Sis.” He sets me on my feet.

“How are you, Darce? Seeing anyone?” I turn to see Grady grinning from his spot leaning against the kitchen counter.

Walking over to him, I hug him too.

“Seeing anyone? Who are you dating?” my father’s booming voice echoes as he walks into the kitchen.

“Leave her alone, you big oaf,” Erin calls out.

I turn to face my father, who looks like the actor Pierce Brosnan. My father was handsome in his younger days and he is still as handsome as ever.

“Hey, Dad.” He comes to me, pulling me in for a hug, kissing the top of my head. I breathe in his woodsy scent and it reminds me of Maverick.

“So, no boyfriend?” He looks down at me, cocking a brow.

I look away and quickly step over to my mom, who winks at me because mothers know. They know things that have not yet happened, it is their magic power, I tell you.

“Hey, honey. How is the shop? The staff doing okay, are you?”

I nod. She is worried about me after the robbery; no matter how many times I tell her that my staff and I are okay, she will keep on worrying. Again, it is a motherly thing.

“We are good, Mom. I have offered them some time off if they need it, but they are happy to be back to work. They have been told that if they get scared or freaked out, then they can come to me.”

“You are a good girl, Darcy.”

“And a dirty girl,” Grady coughs under his breath, earning a glare from me.

“What was that, Son?” My dad looks to him.

Grady looks to our father, his eyes widen a fraction, then he smiles.

“Nothing, Dad.”

“Dick,” I mouth to him, making him chuckle.

I walk over to the high-stool and slide my butt onto it, then smile at Wells.

“So, tell me about this trip?”

He launches into a story all about his adventures of travelling and meeting some amazing people. His face lights up when he says a certain person’s name and I look to Grady, who is smiling at our brother. Wells is in love.

“So, when do we meet this boy?” I grin widely at my brother, who blushes.

“Well, that is the thing.” He rubs the back of his neck nervously.

“Oh, what did you do?” I ask, my heart giddy for him.

“Oh, did good guy Wells, do something bad?” Erin jokes in a sing-song voice.

My brother goes to answer and then the doorbell rings.

“Be right back.”
