“I can’t wait.”

“Come, come. Eat; the food is ready. Gather a bowl or dish and we can go and eat out on the back porch,” my mother calls, and we snap into action.

We all move, collecting a dish or bowl of something that needs to be carried outside. When I went away to college this back porch was not here, but my mom felt sad that I had left, so my father had it built for her. She uses it every chance she gets, sitting out here for her morning coffee every day.

Sitting down, we dig in. Every now and then, I chance a look at my brother and his partner and I smile. Seeing them together is so cute; it is clear to see that he is infatuated with them and them with him. It is in the way they look at each other, the little touches.

Moving my gaze to my parents, I see them watching the new couple together with a proud smile on their faces. My parents are the freaking best, they have been supportive in every aspect of our lives; not once have they told us that we can’t do something.

When I told the guys that I would be talking to my family tonight, telling them about what we are going to try, they wanted to be here, but I told them no. That I needed to do this myself.

Placing my fork down on the table, I use the napkin to wipe my mouth, then use the thing as comfort material, twisting it between my fingers. Even though I know deep down that my family would never turn their backs on me, I am still nervous. Butterflies have taken flight in my tummy.

I clear my throat, gathering everyone’s attention.

“So, since Wells brought some news to the family, I thought I would add mine too.”

Everyone is looking at me, waiting for me to tell them what I intended to, but my words get stuck in my throat.

“Holy shit, you are pregnant,” Grady throws out there.

My mom gasps, my father swears under his breath, while Wells laughs loudly and Dara smiles sweetly at me.

I sigh, shaking my head.

“I am not pregnant, you asswipe.”

“Damn, I was hoping you would bring some kind of scandal to the family,” he replies with a chuckle, and I throw my twisted napkin at him.

“Grady, really?” my mom chastises him.

He shrugs.

“Ignore your idiot brother, baby girl. What is it that you wanted to tell us?” my father asks.

I lick my lips and look down to my lap, finding the right words to speak to explain what is new in my life. They wait with bated breath, well everyone does but my fucking mouthy-ass brother.

“Oh shit, I was right. She is bringing a scandal to the family.” He laughs loudly, clapping his hands.

“Oh, for fuck’s sake, Son, shut it will you,” my father snaps, then looks to me. “Darcy?”

“It is not a scandal, Daddy.”

“Oh hell, she pulled out the ‘Daddy’,” Wells adds, then he lets out an oomph, noticing that Dara has elbowed him in the ribs.

“Let her speak. This must be hard for Darcy; she doesn’t need you boys messing it up for her,” Dara speaks.

I smile at them, mouthing ‘thank you.’

“As I was saying, it is not a scandal as such, but it is something unconventional.” I stop, taking in my family as they look at me.

“Um, Sis, I am not sure if you have noticed, but we are not exactly the conventional family,” Wells states.

Nodding I respond, “I know. I am dating again.”

“That is good, sweetheart, so why the possible scandal?” my mom asks.

“Well, I am possibly dating two men at the same time and they are dating each other also. One of them is a biker and one just happens to be the sheriff,” I rush out, my chest heaving like I have just run a marathon.
