Dom’s name gets called from the main door, and I look over to see Risky calling her grandson into the clubhouse for something to eat.
“Take your school stuff with you, and pack it away,” Jack tells his son.
“Later, fellas.” Dom calls to us as he runs to Aunt Risky.
I bark out laughter hearing him use that word and look to Jack.
“Oh fuck, man, he got into my profile on Netflix at home and watches Peaky Blinders. Now he comes out with all kinds of British slang; Rookie and Lee fucking love it,” he chuckles as he explains.
“He is right though, brother. We are all claiming our Ol’ Ladies; one day my dumbass brother will fall too, then there will be you. Lilith is a great girl, seems solid, knows what she wants even though she is a little shy. Her family did her dirty, brother, that’s why she is here and deserves some good shit,” Finan speaks, leaning his forearms on top of the table and looking bluntly at Jack.
“What do you mean, her family did her dirty? What the hell happened?” Jack’s spine straightens and Finan grins at him.
“Not my story to tell, maybe if you paid attention to her and asked her out, you might find out what they did.” He responded.
“Do you know?” Jack directs his question to me.
Shaking my head. “No clue, man, just heard a few bits and pieces from the women. Maybe I will pay her a visit and get some treats for Darcy.”
He nods. “How are things with you three? Shit, to anyone else that would sound strange and perverted as fuck, you being in a relationship with two people, but look where and who we grew up with. Everything and everyone is accepted here.”
I nod to him. “True. Always knew that I needed more than one partner. I also knew deep down that I would find them when I was ready, then a sexy sheriff arrived and I knew I needed to have him, even though it took some time. Darcy coming back was this big-ass red sign telling me that things could fall into place, I just needed time to set a foundation. Little did I know that I would collide with Cal on a different level, and it sparked so many fucking feelings, so it was like I was ready for Darcy also.”
“But you’ve sorted that shit out now, yeah?”
“Yeah,” I reply to him.“I know that we will clash again in the future, it is bound to happen. Rugged Hunters can do more than he can in some cases. He knows that, so there will come a time when we will fight, but we have to leave work shit at work.”
“I am happy for you, brother. I think that both Cal and Darcy are good for you.”
“You can have all of this too, Jack,” I tell him.
“Yeah, maybe.” He looks towards the door his son went through a few minutes ago.
“Brother, you cannot let that cunt win anymore. What she did was the shittiest but you got Dom out of it. Not all women are her, and I know from what everyone has been saying, Lilith is definitely not like her. Why not try it and see where it goes? Dom has given you his approval.”
“That boy just wants me to hook up with Lilith so he can get free candy whenever he wants,” Jack scoffs.
“Hey, can’t blame a kid for trying, but on a serious note, he just wants you happy like all the coupled-up brothers. Yeah, he has had many women in his life, with all the ladies of the club, but he has never had a mother figure to the fullest, Jack. Maybe it is something to think about.”
“Yeah, man.”
Jack sighs. “I want that, but I have to think about Dom. I don’t want to be one of those dads who brings woman after woman around their kid, ya know? I want him to have a solid foundation for any future relationships he has.”
“Brother, you have never allowed that kid to see any woman you have been with. You have been a great father to him, and he knows that. We all know it. Being a single parent can be hard, but even single parents need love, Jack. Joss has told me so many times that it was often hard for her when Juni was younger, and she would have done anything to find that one person to spend her life with, but it never happened until we met. You can have love, brother. Being a single father does not mean that you do not deserve love or happiness that only revolves around your kid,” Finan tells him.
“Joss is a great woman, you are lucky, brother,” Jack replies to him.
