My stomach flutters, and I nod.

“I would like that.” I smile at him.

The toothy grin he gives me makes my belly flutter, and he leans on the counter, bringing him closer to me.

“Are you busy Friday night? We can go and grab some dinner then get a few drinks.”

I think over what I have planned, and nothing pops into my head. I know the girls are going to the club but there is no dire need for me to be there, it is just the typical Friday night at the clubhouse.

“Nope. Friday is good for me. Where do you want to meet?” He leans back, looking me in the eyes before he speaks, even though I know what he is going to say. The same thing they all say.

“I’d like to do this right; can I pick you up?”

I do not need to think over what he is asking me because I have been here before and it never ends well for me, so I shake my head.

“I would like to meet you there. We do not know if we will enjoy the night once we are in a different atmosphere. The safety aspect of having my car there so I can leave when I need to is the best thing for me. You seem like a really nice guy, but think about this. We have been talking for over 30 minutes now and I still don’t know your name,” I tell him.

I look down at the form and yep, no name has been added.

He nods a few times, looking at me with a simple smile.

“I understand and I get what you are saying. One day I hope that my sister has the same sense as you when it comes to dating a man. We can meet wherever you feel the most comfortable or safe. I am Elton.” He holds his hand out for me to shake.

I look down at his hand, then place mine in his.

My body waits for the spark, the jolt, the tingle, or the rush of emotion but I get nothing.

Nada.

Zilch. Zero feeling.

Fuck me.

Only one man makes you tingle, bitch, my inner voice calls out from her sun lounger.

Calder-fucking-Price.

That man will be the death of me.

“Nice to meet you, Elton, I am Kady. How do you feel about sushi?”

He winks. “Nice choice. Tiger Bowl? Say at six?”

“It’s a date. See you then,” I say to him.

We finish up his order and he leaves. I am happy that he asked me on the date but I get the feeling that something is missing.

Like, shouldn’t I be more excited? Maybe calling the girls right away to tell them about Elton and shitting myself over an outfit?

Pulling out my phone from the back pocket of my shorts, I pull up the group chat that I have with the girls from the club.

Me: I have a date this Friday!

I hit send and it is seconds later when the messages flood in.

Tree: Oh, with who? Do tell, baby sister.

Astrid: Oh, girl, get some.
