Luna: Kady getting some dick (wink emoji)
Laughing at their replies, I lock up my store so I can go and have some lunch and maybe a nap. I am the nap queen and I hold that title proudly.
Joss: I am with Tree. Who is the date with? Do not leave us hanging, Missy.
Me: It is with a guy named Elton. He came into my store looking for a graduation gift for his little sister. He seems nice; we are having sushi on Friday.
Willa: Describe this man. I bet he is hot, right?
Smiling, I lock the door that separates my house and my store before walking into the kitchen to heat up some leftovers from last night. With my phone on the countertop, I pull open the refrigerator and pull out the container that holds the stir-fry that I had last night.
Popping it in the microwave, I lift myself up and sit on the counter, crossing my legs before responding to the girls.
Me: He was hot. Over six feet, he clearly works out but not overly muscular. Bald, dark skin with a sexy goatee. Think Taye Diggs.
I bite my thumbnail while they all respond, unable to remove the smile from my face.
Luna: YES!! Get it.
Astrid: Damn that man is fine. You did good, bitch.
Tree: Oh, he is handsome. I loved him in that medical show.
Joss: Yes, please. None of this conversation leaves here, ladies. Fucking hell, if Finan found out I was gushing over some other man he would spank the hell out of me.
Joss: Okay, I am okay if you tell the guys. (wink emoji)
I burst out laughing.
These girls know how to make me laugh, they know how to lift me up when I am feeling down.
They get me.
When we found out that Tree was married to Royal, it was like our lives got turned upside down but in a good way. Our family grew overnight and we have never looked back.
They became family in an instant; I went from having two sisters to many, and brothers. Except him.
Thinking of Calder, my stomach knots. He has been different towards me since the attack; he has become more protective of me, wanting to know what I am going, where I am going.
I wonder how he is going to react when he finds out I have a date this weekend.
Will he care? Will he try and interfere?
A part of me wants him to interfere and give me what I want, but a part of me also knows that deep down that will never happen. Calder likes variety, so he would never tie himself down to one woman.
No matter how much I fight what I feel for him, I think it will never go away, or it will take a man to completely knock me off my feet to help me forget about Calder Price.
Do I think Elton is that man? No, there was no spark when he asked me out, or when he touched my hand.
Sighing, I allow myself to be excited for the date with Elton.
I deserve this and more.
My sisters have found their happily ever after, and I know that one day I will too.
