KADY

Hooking my bag over my shoulder, I leave the store happy with my latest purchase.

The dress and shoes will be for a night out with the girls, and damn I need a good night out.

The dress is sage green in color, with very thin spaghetti straps. It is tight to my body at the top then flares a little from the waist down, with a slit that stops just below my hip. It is sexy with a touch of class, if you ask me.

Last night I had my date with Elton and it was dead before it even began. He was late, blaming his ex-girlfriend turning up at his place crying, so he had to calm her down, without texting me, I might add.

Then he proceeded to tell me all about their relationship and why it failed, but I saw the love in his eyes when he talked about her, so I told him to go to her.

I am not one to step in the way of love, so there was no point wasting his or my time, as all time is precious, and I told him so. He paid for our meals and left me thirty bucks for any drinks that I might want and he left.

I took that thirty bucks and ordered a dessert, which I ate with some wine that I had at home.

So today is a brush-off day. I plan to shop and brighten my day, brushing everything off that might have a negative impact on me.

Like thoughts of a certain biker who I have not seen or heard from in nearly a week. The guys have been busy working on hunting jobs and trying to track down this chick who likes to steal money from the people who are most vulnerable. Bitch; get me in a room with her and I will teach her some fucking manners and respect.

Smiling at people while thinking of hurting a bitch makes my heart happy. I hate bullies, detest them. I think Risky is rubbing off on me—that woman is fierce and likes to cut people when they hurt someone she loves.

My go-to threat is stabbing people with a spoon. I have no idea where it came from but I always used to blurt it out, so now I use it regularly, even if it is an empty threat.

Stopping short while looking through a large storefront window, ideas flash through my head like a movie reel. Nodding my head thinking to myself, I push through the door and I am greeted with a beaming smile from a very preppy looking teenage girl.

“Good afternoon, how may I help you? Do you have an appointment?”

“Hi, I am great, thank you. I do not have an appointment; it was a last minute decision to come in and have a changeup. I am hoping that I can be fit in, but I can make an appointment if needed,” I explain.

Her eyes light up when I say that it is a last minute thing.

“Oh, a spontaneous decision. I love it,” she screeches happily. “Donna!” she yells out so loud I flinch.

“Fuck me, Tiffany. I am just across the room, no need to scream so loud.” A woman walks towards me with flawless tanned skin and an afro, looking like she belongs on a fashion catwalk.

“This is…” Tiffany looks to me, to finish her sentence.

“Kady.” I offer my name.

“Kady needs a change. Can we fit her in now? Please, please.” She holds her hands together in a praying motion. The woman rolls her eyes at the young girl but when she looks to me, she smiles.

“I can fit you in; what are we looking at doing?” Donna gears her question towards me.

“YES. Oh, this is going to be fun.” Tiffany claps like a happy seal.

“I am looking at a cut and maybe a change in color. I am not one hundred percent sure yet,” I explain.

“Come over to my chair and we will have a quick chat. I am Donna by the way.”

I follow behind her and sit in the red leather seat that she stops at. Once she has placed a black cape around my front and clipped it closed at the back of my neck, she smiles at me in the mirror.

“So what are you thinking?”

As I explain what I think I want done, she is nodding in agreement with a wide grin on her face, showing her approval.

“I think that would look nice on you. Seeing the vibe that you are showing, it will suit you.” Her hands land on my shoulders. “You ready?”

“Yep. Let’s do this.”
