“And her flavored milk,” gets stated.

“Oh, why didn’t I piece that together earlier?” Joss says, leaning forward, looking between Calder and me.

Shit, I know what she has just worked out. Ever since the attack Calder has been more in my space claiming that he needs to watch over me. He has become so freaking protective that it is suffocating at times, but he has showed a more caring side to him, and that has included a nickname.

‘Kitten.’

“Oh, how sweet; he calls you ‘Kitten’ because you drink so much milk,” she croons, with a soft look in her eyes.

“Also, because my sister has sharp teeth and claws that she is not afraid to use,” Tree adds.

The girls laugh and I can’t help but join them.

Feeling eyes on me I look across the room and find Calder looking at me. When he is near me I am acutely aware of his movements, and most make my body come alive. The struggle is real when it comes to trying to keep my body under control around him. There is a real need to want to walk across the room and slip into his lap and take his lips against mine.

Every sound around us sinks into a light buzz; it is like there are only the two of us in the room. My body heats up from the inside from his intense stare, I can feel him undressing me with his eyes, and the way I am feeling right now I am not quite sure I would stop him.

I know I have said that I do not want anything to do with Calder but I secretly love that he is watching me, being protective over me. I have to keep him at arm’s length however, so that I do not get my heart broken, because I know that a man like Calder Price could do that.

A baby screeching breaks the connection between us, and I jump when I hear Mable crying.

“I’m sorry. I couldn’t catch her in time.” Dom cries, holding Mable in his lap.

Both Travis and Willa go to the kids, Willa taking her baby from the boy.

“Dom, we saw, sweetie, it’s okay. She was climbing all over you, it is what she does. No one is blaming you and see” —Willa twists Mable around so Dom can see her face, and she is no longer crying— “She is okay.”

“I am still sorry. I should watch them better, they are smaller than me.” He sniffles as his father Jack rubs his shoulders.

Mable, being the sweet baby she is, reaches for Dom, but he jerks backwards, and Willa, being the sweet and kind woman she is, sets her daughter into the boy’s lap.

“Dom buddy, we all know that you would never hurt the girls. You are their protector but remember that you can’t protect them from everything, okay.” This comes from Travis.

“You are our dragon slayer, Dommy,” comes the sweet, sweet voice of Adley as she wraps her arms around his neck.

Oh, shit. My nose starts to tingle from my gathering tears. I sniff and cough to swallow the emotion. Damn these soppy moments. A hand rests on mine, and I turn to see my sister with tears in her eyes also.

“Pregnancy is your excuse, what is mine?” We giggle.

“You are allowed to feel things, Kady. I know that Donnel hurt you, but he is a thing of the past. Find happiness.” Damn sister moments.

I clear my throat, and turn my body to face her, taking her hand between my own and looking her in the eyes.

“I am not living in the past, and I have moved on from what that dickweed did to me. Not all women stay stuck in the past, Sis. My life is mine and I am living the way that I want to.” I smile at her.

“I just want to see you happy with whoever that may be.” Her gaze flicks over my shoulder and I know who she is looking at but I do not react.

Looking over my shoulder, I find him watching me; he is still sitting in his seat while the others are in the middle of the room with the kids.

He has sunk down in his seat, his legs spread in a relaxed position. One arm is resting on the side of the chair while his fingers play at his mouth in a sexy gesture some men make, while his eyes search my soul.

He knows what he is doing to me, I just need to learn how to not fall for his ways.

Damn, this man is way too fucking hot for his own good.
