He pulled his legs up to kneel on the couch. “Okay.” His lips thinned, and I knew it was to stop himself from saying more again. His arms wrapped around his waist, as if he was holding himself still.

Christ. I wanted to take him with me, but I also didn’t.

We’d only had one night and half a day together. I shouldn’t have been so attached already.

Yet, I was, and I knew this between us was for the long haul. I wanted him like he did me, and what we already had was bigger than any human partnering.

Fate had picked us for one another, and that cosmic shit was intense.

They couldn’t be wrong. I’d trust their choice. It was easy to since I was already obsessed.

Reaching over, I picked him up with ease to pull him onto my lap. His knees slid to my hips, his hands on my chest.

I squeezed his waist gently. “Talk to me, sunshine.”

Before he dropped his face into my chest, I caught his smile from me calling him sunshine. I thought the name was damn perfect for him because he was a big ray of sunshine that had warmed me and my life more than it’d ever been.

Against my chest, he muttered, “Just feeling funny about you going.”

“Know what you mean. Which is why you’re comin’.”

He gasped, sitting up. “Really?”

I smirked. “Yeah.”

Fuck it. The brothers would meet him sooner than I anticipated, but I didn’t care.

“Are you sure? These are your people, your club. You’ve never been with a guy before around them or at all, right?”

I shook my head.

“What will they think? They could be mean to you about it, and I’d hate to have to kill anyone you like. You’d tell me if you like them enough to keep them alive, yeah? I mean, I’ll try not to kill anyone, but if I can tell you’re pissed about something they say, you might have to hold me back…. Maybe it’s best I stay here.”

Christ, he was fucking cute. I probably shouldn’t find his murderous tendencies adorable, but I did.

“I ain’t leavin’ you here, sunshine. Need you with me.”

His body jolted, and his smile grew slower, but bigger than I’d seen. “Okay.” He popped up off me and ran from the room.

“Where are you goin’?”

“To get dressed and grab some knives. I left mine at home.”

Shit.

“Riker, leave the knives,” I called, standing, and making my way over to pick up my keys. I slipped on my boots and my cut as I listened to him rushing back.

“Boo, my boo, really?” he asked.

Did he just call me boo?

I wasn’t sure if I liked it or not, but I wasn’t touching it for now.

“Yes.” I dipped in and kissed him swiftly. Knew if I lingered, we wouldn’t get out the door. He was back, dressed in the clothes from the night before. We’d have to stop at his place and grab some more. “Get your shoes on. You need a jacket?”

He bounced back and forth on his feet with his hands clasped together in front of him. “I’m good. Shifters always run hotter than humans.”

Nodding, I went out the door and locked it after we were out. I would have enjoyed taking my ride, with Riker warming my back, but I didn’t have a spare helmet yet. We headed to my car instead.
