“Thank you.”

“I’m just not sure how anyone is going to react to them being at the house,” Nolan said.

“Lane is coming with me,” I told him. “Beau needs to stay at the house.”

“I don’t trust them.” Another growl rumbled through Declan’s chest as he stared across the lawn. “I don’t think—”

“Can they end this?” Lucas interrupted, his voice rough.

“That’s the hope,” I said.

“Then I don’t give a fuck what kind of people they are,” he replied. “I’ll get Beau a fucking room set up right now.”

“Hold on.” Sam grabbed his arm to stop him as he tried to leave. “It’s not that easy, kid.”

“It is that easy!” Lucas exclaimed, his temper exploding. “Whatever the fuck we’re doing, it isn’t working! People are dying. You’re a fucking idiot if you think we can figure this out ourselves! We’re fucking useless! The five of us are fucking useless! We can’t do any of the shit Killian can do, and even he’s struggling. We need crazy! We need out-of-this-world insane to stop this before more people die! If they’re it, then fine. Fine! I’ll make a fucking bed and cater to a bunch of fucking psychos!”

He huffed out an angry breath as he waited for anyone to challenge him. Poor fucking kid. After what he saw, I didn’t blame him. From the looks on my brothers’ faces, neither did they.

Enough was enough. And while Lane and Beau were fucking crazy in their respective ways, we needed more crazy. A lot more.

Chapter 111

Genevieve

Killian’s friends were… interesting? Was interesting the right word to describe Lane Stevens and Beau Mason? I wasn’t sure there were any good words to describe Lane and Beau. Killian had kept introductions incredibly short, leaving a lot of unanswered questions.

And it was clear as we drove down the path away from the pack house that he wasn’t happy to have Lane following us home. The line to leave was long—Maeve in front of us, Lane and Nolan behind us—giving us an uncomfortable amount of time alone together. His knuckles strained as he gripped the wheel of my car.

“Do you trust him?” I asked, desperate to fill the tense silence between us.

“With my life,” Killian replied without hesitation.

“But you don’t trust him with my life?” I frowned.

“Baby girl, I don’t fucking trust anyone but me with your life,” he stated. Well, that couldn’t be true.

“Declan?”

“Too passive.”

“Lucas?”

“Too impulsive?”

“Sam?”

“Let’s just assume no for all my brothers,” he said.

“Even Nolan?” I demanded.

“Especially Nolan,” he scoffed. “I love the kid to death, but he needs protecting just as much as you do.”

“Your mom?” I tried. There had to be someone.

“Considering I learned just how unhinged she can be, absolutely not,” Killian told me. “She’d probably get the two of you arrested, and I can’t protect you in jail, princess.”

“Killian!”
