“I’m fine,” Darragh answers. “It’s late here in New York. What’s up?”

“I’m calling you because you’re the only person I really know in your family.”

My heart seizes, thinking it has to do with Cormac.

But he’s in Ireland, so that’s impossible.

“What’s wrong?” Darragh asks, sounding stressed.

“It’s your brother Eoghan.”

Darragh shoots to his feet. “Is he hurt?”

I pull on Darragh’s arm, but he shakes his head.

I get up on my knees to listen better.

“Not yet. He might be hurt soon, though.”

I assumed Eoghan had to stay in Las Vegas this past month to clean up Cormac’s misdeeds.

Guilt swamps me again.

“What’s going on, Taryn?” Darragh asks, sounding worried.

“Your brother’s in a bad way.”

“What do you mean?”

“With a woman here. He’s… Well, he’s gone off the rails.”

Darragh and I stare at each other.

My cheeks heat up. What the hell is going on?

“Who is this woman?” Darragh steps away so I can’t hear.

I hope it’s not because I’m the Bratva Underboss, listening to an issue about the Irish Consigliere.

Or he’s protecting me from something gruesome.

“Jesus Fucking Christ.” Darragh rubs a hand over his face. “I’ll call one of my brothers. Thanks for the heads up.”

He tosses his phone on the bed and then paces.

“What’s going on?”

“I’m glad we have the Bratva on our side.”

“Of course, why?”

“Looks like Eoghan is ready to start a war with the Las Vegas Cosa Nostra over a woman.”
