"No. I think we can raise our children here in Wain Ethan."

"I'd like that," she whispers.

"I meant something else."

Andrea sighs and breaks away from me. "What?" she inquires.

I look at her, at those deep, clear eyes and the tousled, copper hair that spills over her shoulders.

I gaze at the pop star who has become so much more to me. She’s become the woman I love.

"We should get married."

She raises an eyebrow, sleek and perfect, and looks at me in awe.

"Are you serious?"

"I wouldn't joke about that," I assure her.

For some reason, she shakes her head.

"I mean, you have a lot of drugs coursing through your veins. All that medication..."

"Andrea, listen to me."

"...affecting you. It must be the meds."

"Andrea. I'm serious."

My hands cup her cheeks, and I make her look at me. "I've never been so serious about anything in my life. I love you, and I want you to be my wife."

She looks at me, completely dumbfounded.

As the silence grows, impatience finally pushes me to ask.

"Will you accept?"

And just when I think she's going to refuse, a smile creeps over her lips.

"Yes, Damien. I will marry you."

CHAPTER TWENTY-FOUR

DAMIEN

"I have to admit, I never thought I'd see the day," Landon admits, looking at me with amusement from where he sits on the couch.

Andres also seems determined to join in on the teasing. "Out of all of us, Damien was the last one I could see getting married," he admits with a laugh.

A grimace rises to my lips as I fix my tie.

Jackson walks over to the liquor table and pours himself a shot of whiskey. "From what I understand, neither of you two poor bachelors are thinking of getting married, since it’s not like either of you have a love in your life, So, who are you to talk about Damien?"

"You have a point there," Ethan remarks.

"I don't know," Landon walks over to the window, looking out at the reception that’s being prepared for the guests down in the private gardens that overlook the lake. From the window, you can see Haley wearing one of the bridesmaid dresses. She’s holding her eldest daughter Abby by the hand, showing the little girl how to carry a basket of flowers while the wedding begins.

Jackson watches the scene, full of pride. "Marriage just isn’t for me."
