"I'm stronger than you give me credit for," I say defiantly.

"You're mistaken, Ivy. You're the strongest woman I've ever met, but that doesn't mean bad memories can't hurt you." I'm struck by how right he is, and for a second, our eyes meet, and I wonder if I should trust him and turn around and leave these memories hidden where they are. But then I will always wonder what really happened, I think. No, I must face all the truth now.

* * *

Sem leads me through the hallways. I hear a language I don't understand all around me. There are signs with alien writing on the walls, and it's dark. "What happened to the lights?"

"They're dimmed to simulate night."

After about ten minutes, we are walking into the same medical center I left a few hours ago. Unlike before, it's all quiet now. A young man comes out to meet us. Like Sem, he's dressed in a tunic and pants, but his are navy blue. They are speaking an alien language I mistook for Swedish before. I'm such a fool.

The young man looks at me and asks me a question.

I look at Sem because I have no idea what this man said to me.

"He wants to know if you want to wake up the doctor or if it can wait until morning."

"Tell him I want to wake up the doctor."

"I don't need to tell him; he has a translator and can understand you," Sem tells me, then repeats the young man's answer.

"He will wake up the doctor."

"Good," I say and cross my arms across. We wait awkwardly in the dark medical center. I look at Sem in all his alienness, and I must admit he is still attractive despite being grey. Also, seeing him with his own kind, that they all look like this, is a comfort. He's not an anomaly.

"Something the matter?" he asks, noticing my long gaze.

"Just thinking about things."

"The doctor can be cranky. I just want to warn you."

"I'm cranky myself, given the situation. So, I don't care," I reply. "He stole my memories."

The doctor comes out and looks me up and down. Then says to Sem, who translates for me, "If he does this, he'll not give you a translator for a week."

"Why not? To punish me?"

"No. Because he doesn't want to risk the translator giving you migraine headaches, the brain is sensitive to these procedures. Do you still want it done?"

"What's a week of not being able to understand when you've taken some of my memories? Yes, I want it done."

The doctor then motions for me to follow him. I do, and he motions for me to lie on the medical bed. I do. I lie down and stare at the white ceiling as I listen to Sem, and the doctor speak their language. It can't be that difficult since all those humans on that ship learned it. My mind's musings are interrupted, though, when the procedure takes a formal turn.

Sem translates for the doctor, "When I ask you to close your eyes, you must let me lead you through your memories. This will feel invasive. I will not touch any memories I've not touched before, and I'm sworn to secrecy about what I see and know. However, the procedure will be recorded for legal purposes, as it was recorded the first time when I hid these from you. Do you understand?"

"Yes."

"Then I will begin. Close your eyes, Madame Ivy."

I do as the doctor says, and for a minute, I feel and hear nothing but the breathing of the men around me. Then suddenly, I feel the doctor with me. I can’t understand him, though. He speaks out loud, and Sem translates. "We're going back half a year. Back to the day, you were abducted by the Dulu. Yes. I set the marker. You feel it. That strange sensation that you shouldn't open the door to the movie theatre. That's where it began. From there, I changed your memory that you and your friend went to see a movie, but in reality, you were abducted and subjected to full medical exams for illegal alien experimentation."

I begin to experience the abduction. I scream in my head or also out loud, I don't know. I'm so scared. I reach out for Scarlett's hand as she's with me too. When I grab it, I don't let go. Although we are pulled apart and stripped. Scarlett tries to fight back, and they beat her with some kind of whips made out of light. She falls to the floor, and I try to protect her from more pain with my own body. I remember the pain spreading across my body. I cry out.

"Do you want me to stop?"

"No. Keep going. I want all of my memories back."

As if this is an organic video recording behind my closed eyes, the doctor continues with my memories. Days fly by in minutes. There are a lot of women from all over Earth who have been abducted by these green aliens. We are all being stripped and scared into submission. Then, they begin the medical tests. All kinds of tests. When it's my turn, I'm lying still in nothingness as green faces with big black eyes hover over me. A forcefield holds and makes me move my naked body in any way the aliens want without them touching me. Then I feel it. Something inside my vagina. They are stealing something from me.
