His lips quirk into a smirk, his fingers flexing against my skin. "Whoever you want me to be."

The implication behind his words sends a shiver down my spine, and I find myself leaning into him, our bodies moving in sync to the pulsing rhythm. The air between us crackles with tension, the possibility of something more hovering just out of reach.

"So what's your story?" I ask during a song that's more bass than words.

His eyes flicker with a hint of surprise, then something softer, almost wistful.

"Well, tomorrow I ship out. New recruit. Guess I wanted one last night to feel... normal," Axel responds, his voice a low rumble over the thumping beat. There's a proud tilt to his chin, but the shadows in his eyes speak of a man standing at the precipice of the unknown.

"That's brave, facing the unknown," I say, my voice sincere. And I mean it. My own leap into the unknown feels trivial by comparison, but it's a shared thread between us, nonetheless. "Today marked a first for me, too. I just had my debut performance. But it felt like the world was watching."

Axel's brow furrows, curiosity etched in his features. "Your debut? So, you're a musician?"

I nod, a smile tugging at my lips. "Yeah, I've been working towards this moment for years. The late nights, the endless rehearsals, the sacrifices... it all led to tonight."

"I can only imagine," he says, his gaze holding a newfound respect. "It takes guts to put yourself out there like that, to chase your dreams no matter what."

"It hasn't been easy," I admit, my voice barely audible over the music. "There were times when I wanted to give up, when the obstacles seemed insurmountable. But music... it's my passion. It's what I'm meant to do."

Axel's hand tightens on my hip, a reassuring pressure. "I get that. It's like with my deployment. I'm excited to serve, to make a difference, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't nervous about what the future holds."

I look up at him, seeing the vulnerability beneath his strong exterior. "That's understandable. You're heading into uncharted territory. But from what I can tell, you've got the strength and courage to face whatever comes your way."

His lips quirk into a smile, a genuine one this time. "Thanks, Sasha. That means a lot coming from someone who knows a thing or two about chasing dreams and facing fears."

We fall into a comfortable silence, swaying to the music, lost in our own thoughts. I can't help but marvel at the way our paths have crossed, two strangers sharing a moment of understanding amidst the chaos of the club.

As the night wears on, I can sense the urgency growing between us. There's an unspoken acknowledgment that our time together is limited, that the magic of this evening has an expiration date.

"When do you leave?" I ask, my voice barely rising over the thumping bass.

"0600," Axel responds, his grip tightening on my waist. "Bus leaves for the airport first thing."

I swallow hard, the reality of our situation settling like a weight in my stomach. "And after that?"

He shakes his head, his eyes clouding with something I can't quite read. "No guarantees. That's the life I signed up for."

The words hang heavy between us, a reminder that whatever this is, it can't last. But instead of dampening the mood, it only fuels the fire burning in my veins.

"Then let's make tonight count," I whisper, my fingers curling into the hair at the nape of his neck.

Axel's gaze darkens, his lips curving into a smile that's equal parts wicked and promising. "I thought you'd never ask."

He leans in closer, his stubble grazing my cheek as he whispers in my ear. "Let's get out of here, Sasha. Just you and me, no distractions. I want to taste every inch of you, make you forget your own name."

My breath hitches in my throat, my body responding to his words with a throb of desire. "Bold words, soldier. You sure you can deliver?"

His answering grin is pure sin. "Oh, I can more than deliver. The question is, can you handle it?"

And just like that, the challenge is laid bare. The tension between us reaches a fever pitch, our bodies practically vibrating with anticipation. We push through the crowd, our hands clasped tightly, our eyes locked in a heated gaze.

AXEL

My fingers trace the curve of her hip, her skin like fire under my touch. Our bodies are pressed together, our breaths mingling as we explore each other with a hunger that's impossible to deny.

"Fuck, Sasha," I growl against her neck, my voice thick with desire. "You feel so damn good."
