“And look how well all three of you have done.” She hugged him back with a sigh then moved out of his embrace. “I’m proud of the way you’ve accepted Evan and included him in our lives. He’s a good kid.”
“Well,nowhe is.” Evan had come a long way in earning their trust, the extra effort he continued to exert at the ranch garnering their respect. Slade cared for him, as did Brett and Reed, and he would have been here today if it weren’t the first day of the fall semester.
“Thanks to you boys. Now, we’d best get you to the airport. That small island resort you and Nicole booked sounds wonderful.”
It did, as superb as their future, Slade thought, striding toward Nicole’s beaming grin.
